Despite being a frequent traveler to Dubai and having some experience trying different hotels, still there are many 5 stars hotels that I need to explore and try. This time, I tried Shangri La Hotel which is located on Sh. Zayed Road. This is my first time in this hotel but tried Shangri La before in different cities. The hotel is located in a strategic walkable area with plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes and its proximity to Dubai Mall. Check-in was so smooth. I was given a wonderful room on the 30th floor facing Sh. Zayed Road. The room has all the amenities that any traveler needs. Extra-things like shaving kit .. etc can be ordered from the reception. The room was of decent size and very clean. The bed was so comfortable for sleep and the room has excellent sound proof. I barely hear anything from outside. The bathroom was also of reasonable size and very clean. I particularly enjoyed their toiletries. The scent is so fresh. The shower has strong pressure which leaves you fresh. My only issue is that the room has no dedicated USB socket for charging. The breakfast is served at Dunes Cafe in the first floor. It has a variety of options that suits every palate Also this restaurant hosts speciality buffet nights. For seafood lover they have a wonderful buffet on Friday evening. There were suppose to be two restaurants on the second floor but I believe they are under renovation. The first floor has two other restaurants, Chinese (Shang Palace) and Vietnamese (Hoi An) but I didn’t try them. On the same floor there is the Balcony Bar. Their spa and the outdoor pool are located on the 4th floor, while there is another indoor swimming pool in the 43th or 44th floor (I don’t remember now!). Both swimming pools are ordinary and the signs of aging clearly is shown on both facilities. I guess the highlight of my stay was the wonderful staff. The staff were friendly everywhere. I particularly remember Kunga at the reception which did everything possible to make my stay very comfortable from smooth check-in process. She was helping me and other customers with a big smile and genuinely she has a great passion in her work. I remember I tried to log-in to my Shangri-La app but for some reason I couldn’t do that and I needed series of verification without success. I told one of the staff at the reception about this issue and she gave me 1-800 number to dial. However, after 30 minutes I mentioned this issue to Kunga during my check-out process and she managed to call Shangri-La management and within exactly two minutes my app was working again. Overall, nice hotel and I enjoyed every aspect of it. The management has to be proud of their staff. Personally, I like to change hotels when I come to Dubai just to have different experiences each time but definitely this is a place I would love to try again and obviously highly recommend for solo travelers couples and families.

Everything was fantastic.The staff and service was of high standard.The staff are also helpful and went extra mile to make sure we had an awesome stay.will highly recommend this hotel to my friends and family.
Would like to comment about Chef Sarah for making me my favourite Upma, it was so kind of him for going the extra mile without even asking for it.
The ladies at the hostess miss Lydiah and Imie are always kind, approachable.
They during checkout we requested to have our breakfast in the early morning for takeout because we had an early flight.
The room attendants were great ,made sure our room was always cleaned and we had what we needed.
Our overall stay in the Shangri-La was Excellent.

Where do I start with the review, well i will start at the beginning.
We arrived at 8am, and we had request an early check in if possible. Check in staff were brilliant, and our room was ready, and it was a brilliant room looking out at the Burj Khalifa.
As we were in an Horizon Club room, we went along for breakfast on Level 41, and the staff were brilliant, and the food was so fresh.
We went to the Horizon Club every evening before dinner as there was happy hour which was from 5.30-7.30 for Visitors staying in Horizon Club Room, the staff in there were very attentive, special thanks to Sumahiya, and Ayorub for looking after us. Hossam in Horizon club remembered us from Sept 2019 when we were last there, and he was absolutely brilliant, chatting to us every evening and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff in there.
Dunes - well what can I say the food in there was lovely, with a huge choice. For breakfast there was everything you could want, and the fresh fruit was so tasty. We also had our evening meals there and again staff were so attentive. Special thanks to the following staff and especially Rizkya, she is one special lady and will stay a special friend of ours. Melissa, Mohamad, and also special thanks to Sous Chef Khalil Saddakny who makes amazing pasta dishes.
We spent every day by the pool, and they were amazing too, special thanks to Maria, Troy and Vignesh for making our stay relaxing, and the food served by the pool was fab too.
Last but not least the special singing doorman Khodarahm, was always happy and said if guests are happy then he is happy.
All I can say is sorry if i missed anyone off but all the staff were brilliant.
They are so conscious about the covid situation, ensuring people were wearing masks, there was hand sanitizers everywhere, we never one felt unsafe. Hotel was immaculately clean.
We are looking forward to returning next year.

This is a wonderful hotel in a great location. Have been visiting for a few years now. Always opt for the horizon level, the service is of a much higher standard here and check in / check out an absolute breeze. Staff are diverse from all parts of world which makes it pleasant. Rooms are well appointed, clean, and great amenities. Very thought out details. Love the rooms.
Downside up here is that children/toddlers are allowed in the business lounge and horizon lounge area. Not ideal when the space is so small and screaming kids is the last thing you want to hear first thing in the morning while having breakfast.
Unacceptable to have them roaming the business lounge where meetings take place and guests take time out to do some work there. This really needs to be addressed.
Downstairs is a different story. Seems like it caters to chinese visitors. A total put off.
Breakfast area used to be sensational, now the quality of food has rapidly declined and variety has vanished. Why o why would i want to eat chinese noodles in dubai? You dedicate a while chinese noodle bar! Bring out the best your country has to offer, thats why i am there! If i wanted a noodle bar i would have gone to shanghai! This act alone is disrespectful to other nationalities staying with you.
There is some sort of nightclub used on a higher floor. Music is so loud you can hear it through the night whilst you sleep. Security block off one elevator to allow external guests to enter. This is not such a nice experience watching random men enter a place which is supposedly my safe haven.
Your tall door man is the delight of your hotel. He is super friendly and helpful.
Horizon level happy hour is pleasant with friendly staff.
I dont know if i will be back - perhaps its time to try something new in dubai.

We visited the Shangri La swimming pool this week with our kids, and had a fantastic morning. The check in process was very streamlined, smooth and fast (far better than a few months ago when they reopened after lockdown). The staff were so hospitable. What I love is that from all the pools in Dubai, this is lovely and shaded in the mornings which is great for families with small children. All patrons were asked to leave the pool around 11am as they start the cleaning and sanitisation process, and they were very thoughtful to ensure everyone's safety. It's great to be back again! Special thanks to Irma and Alex for their great service and hospitality.

most amazing views, super location, night club at the rooftop will put smile on your face, big room sizes and perfect views. highly recommended, down side is breakfast if you will pay for them on a day it will be costly and poor selection... better of trying other cuisines round the corner

I was in Shangri-la hotel (Sheikh Zaied Road) in the last week of 2019 and first week of 2020 with my family. We stayed at a triple room (3001) in the 30th floor. The space is not too large for 3 adults but the furniture and equipment is excellent. The staff is extremely friendly and always ready to help us to solve problems with excursions and so on. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is very large (has the space that is missing in the room), being very complete. The products provided are good, but I already used better in other hotels. The smell is good. The views from the room to Burj Khalifa are superb, either during the day or at night. The park is free for guests and the people from the desk and doors are extremely polite and attentive. One day, by mistake, we pushed the red button avoiding housekeeping. At night, we have a message under our door saying that they didn't make the service because we have required do not have room service. The messages from excursions providers are left in our room without delays. They are extremely professionals. The breakfast is excellent, with cuisine from Vietnam to England and Europe. Very complete, and served by very attentive staff. The value for the money is good regarding the peak season in the New Years' Eve. We didn't feel the atmosphere of the New Years' Eve in the hotel because we preferred to dinner at Joe's Café at Dubai Mall, with a superb view over the Burj Khalifa countdown (Extremely expansive). If we return to Dubai, I will stay again in Shangri-la hotel, mainly due to the views and staff. We really enjoyed our stay. It was amazing.

We stayed here as a family during a trip to Dubai in mid October 2020 - so in the midst of the pandemic. We arrived on short notice, as we had to change our accommodation plans due to another hotels absolute incompetence.
So arriving from hell Shangri La Dubai became heaven for the remaining 11 nights of our stay. It all started before we arrived with Dawn from reservations, who professionally guided us through the available options, and arranged also not only a nice upgrade (we are Golden Circle Diamond Status), but also recognized that my wife has just had her birthday, and of course made sure a cake was awaiting her!
When you arrive at SL Dubai one thing you recognize is the amazing interior design, the very good location, but you will also recognize that although the SL Dubai is already of some age everything is perfectly maintained, clean and looked after.
But what amazed us the most of all was the staff. ALL staff members work together as a team, and ALL are driven by an authentic, not artificial and overdone, hospitality that makes you feel welcomed and "at home". As we were traveling with a 14 months old toddler during the pandemic we have been a bit more picky about cleanliness, but there was absolutely nothing negative to find. The House Keeping is doing a TOP JOB.
While we did not expect a lot from a room service ordered porridge for our little one, what arrived after 15 minutes blew our mind. Not only was the porridge absolutely delicious, it was also presented in a way that very well could have been a main dish in the restaurant. Stunning what a simple dish can be if it is done by heart.
From Front Desk to Back Office, from lobby, Bellman, Security, Drivers, Breakfast, Major Domo, Afternoon Tea, Dinner and Lunch in the Sang Palace (greetings to amazing Alex!) everybody was amazing.
We and our little tiger are already missing all of you guys! Mohamed, Greg, NaziKB, April, Ayoub, Khodarahm, Alex, Dawn, Olga, just too many people to remember all the names. You have been fantastic!
Also we had the chance to speak to the hotel management on our day of arrival and departure, and again: Thanks for an open, authentic, unpretentious but valueing conversation.
Shangri La Dubai: One of our best hotel stay EVER, we can only highly recommend it.

I love the gym and pool facility at this popular Dubai hotel. What even makes it special is the awesome staff here. Every time you walk in, you are welcomed back with a genuine smile by its reception staff. Erma, Pam, Merry, Olga, Mohammed and Abdullah at the reception are great. During these difficult times, it is essential to ensure the highest levels of sanitization is maintained, hence a special thank you to Khin, Rama and Parvati for doing so. The equipment at the gym is well maintained. The service at the pool is prompt. I look forward to coming back here each day. Keep it up guys.

This is one of the greatest hotels I've ever stayed in. We initially booked a sea view room through a third party booking site, but were offered an upgrade deal to the Horizon Club upon arrival. It was worth it. Not only did we have access to the exclusive pool and terrace, we also had breakfast at the Horizon Club Lounge. Ayoub, Sagan, and Manoj were excellent hosts and gave us impeccable service!
I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Dubai!
