I booked this guesthouse about 3 days before I arrived in Luang Prabang. Do not do this. There is no reason to book in advance for Luang Prabang there are plenty of guesthouses. For Muonglao I payed 19 CAD a night when I booked online. This is way over priced. The room he gave us was room 1 and it...

We stayed at muong Lao guesthouse for 2 nights. We are 2 young girls travelling round south east asia on our own, who were just looking for somewhere basic, cheap, clean and comfortable in Luang Prabang to spend the night. Well it was far from comfortable! The room had a horrible musky smell when you entered and looked like it...

It looked good on booking.com, but in reality it was quite a depressing place, both looks-wise and atmosphere-wise. When we arrived, the room was not ready (it was quite late at night so we did not come too early etc) so we were given a different room. But this room had a door where the lock did not work. After...

Before you read my review you should know I have been staying among poor people in for instance Congo Brazzaville, when I did research for my thesis way back. This is important in relation to the Muonglao Guesthouse. It is extremely dirty, and this is not because I'm squeamish. The photos you see on pages like hotels.com or agoda.com are...

Stayed for 3 nights here. Positives: the price was good, room had a balcony with chairs looking over the street, the room was large and reasonably clean, and the guesthouse is a cute old wooden house. The staff were friendly. Negatives: the bathroom was pretty bad, a lot of mold and seemed like it hadn't had a proper clean in...

A friend and I stayed at this guesthouse for 4 nights. We switched rooms after dealing with the negatives stated below. Both rooms we stayed in were on the first floor. Positives: - Location. It's about a 15 min walk to the night market and a few minutes to where the bars are. - The price was slightly cheaper than...

Stayed in a back main floor room and apart from the bathroom being outdated, the room itself was clean. Very quite at night and for the price and location it was great. Very nice staff. Very close to utopia bar

We stayed four nights in Muonglao guesthouse and would recommend if you're looking for something really good located and cheap. The rooms are not really clean nor pretty but with a great location so it's a good option. Nice staff but bad laundry !

When we checked in in hotel Muonglao the rooms we ordered were absolutly dirty. First we were offered an room full dampsmell. My friend is allergic so we had to change the room. Also the room didnt had a balcony which we booked for. In the new room was the ground so dirty. There was dust like it wasnt cleaned...

We had a good sized, nicely decorated room with balcony overlooking road, only let down by a dirty, mouldy bathroom and a weak Internet connection. The hotel is a fair walk from the main town and yo need to circumvent the hill to get to the night market and riverside, though there are restaurants and bars nearby. The major let...

“They did have a room facing back...the others face the street. If you could get that room I bet it would be more pleasant stay. Its a small place though, so not sure theres really much choice as its generally fully booked in season.”
