Mekong Estate was a wonderful stay from start to finish. I booked a 'suite apartment', 65sqm (!!), for my parents and myself (3 pax) for 4 nights in late April 2017. The hotel buildings & grounds are stunning: a couple of beautiful old colonial buildings and a few new ones built in a similar style, set right upon the Mekong...

We chose this hotel because it has a kitchenette, which is quite handy when travelling with younger kids (4 and 1), but we never fathomed how much in love we would be with the place eventually. Mr Toey, the manager, picked up us in person from the airport and had the van stop at a local market to get groceries....

Best hotel on the Mekong. Beautiful staff and the ever helpful gentle manager Toi (correct spelling?) We were picked up and dropped off at the airport, had 10 days in the beautiful hotel with beautiful breakfast menu every morning. Great coffee and mixed fruit juice and delicious yoghurt. We had free use of bicycles to check out the town and...

The hotel is stunning and right on the Mekong where the sunsets are to die for. There is no reception but a manager checks on the guests in the villas each morning at breakfast time. Breakfast is either made in the villas or delivered to it. The decor is so very tasteful and rooms/beds very comfortable. The pool is lovely...

My husband and I were stunned by the beauty of this place. It sits right above the Mekong river just outside of the commercial area of town. There is something incredibly romantic about the area, the peace, the water. The houses have an old colonial feel with French doors to the patio that overlook the Mekong. We had breakfast on...

We spent 4 nights in the Jade Suite in Feb 2017. The setting is wonderfully tranquil alongside the Mekong river about 2k from the centre of Luang Prabang. The residences, in Lao colonial style, are set on the river bank about 100m from the main road into LP. They benefit from spectacular views over the Mekong river with the balcony...

I stayed here for 2 nights in Feb 2017. I was in the Garden Loft which is very spacious and beautifully furnished. Time really does slow down here and breakfast on the balcony each morning was lovely. I just couldn't get over that view! I walked, cycled and tuk tuk'd into town- tuk tuk is 20,000 and its 50,000 to...

A beautiful location overlooking the Mekong and the mountains beyond. There is no bar or restaurant but that's no problem as it's just the right distance out of town (10 minutes by cycle or tuk tuk), where there's a high standard and great variety of eating places. The rooms are elegantly decorated in colonial style - dark wood and ceiling...
