Beautiful interior to the hotel, only drawback was the size of the room we had. Facilities are ok, but it's a small site so only a plunge pool, small spa etc. Restaurant was ok for breakfast and served good Indian food in the evening. Nice atmosphere and lovely staff, who can't do enough to help. Next to a road that...

Mingalabar, Dear Valued Guests, We feel happiness when we see your feedback on tripadvisor. As we are boutique hotel, our rooms are tiny, lovely decorated with traditional things. Breakfast is Full Buffet with various items to choose. Restaurant served Indian foods specially but also available Myanmar, Asian and Little European cuisine with fresh atmosphere. We stayed in this comfortable hotel for 3 nights as part of a 6 week tour of Myanmar. This hotel was one of the best. The hotel is situated within walking distance of the palace and is a distinctive building by the side of a small canal. All staff were polite, cheerful and helpful. Our room on the first floor...

Stayed for 2 nights in November. Absolutely delightful. We had a "Shan" room on the first floor, which was described in all the literature as "Small", but we found it very spacious. Some of the rooms in other locations in our Myanmar holiday certainly had larger bathrooms, but this one was very adequate! Our room was at the back, so...

I spent two nights at the hotel in December 2016 as part of a vacation in Myanmar. The hotel room was well appointed, but rather dark, brought about by the bare concrete wall outside facing the window. By keeping the curtains closed I was able to ignore this. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. Toiletries in the bathroom...

I enjoyed the stay in this hotel ,although only for 2nights. I had a free foot massage which was relaxing and also free cocktails both days . Though they had mosquito lamps, I did not come across any. We did lot of tours from the hotel as it was central to most of the places we visited.

The Hotel by the Red Canal, Mandalay is a small, family run hotel of high quality. The staff are warm and courteous and ever helpful. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An oasis by the landmark Red Canal in local folklore just minutes from the famed Mandalay Palace and other attractions, The Hotel by the Red Canal is a convenient sanctuary, with its lush tropical greenery and calming water features, amidst the hustle and bustle of Myanmar's cultural city. “By choosing to stay with us, we will provide you with the extra measure of quality, comfort and personal convenience that you are looking for. Being small, we are able to provide personal attention to the needs, wants, and expectations of every guest.” The boutique-style hotel is a celebration of all things Myanmar, featuring teak furniture and fixtures & fittings made from rattan, mother-of-pearl and other local materials as well as Myanmar marble lining the bathroom walls. Each of the 4 types of guestrooms or customized suites, differentiated by individual style, bears the name of the major ethnic groups in multi-cultural Myanmar and is adorned with rich traditional paraphernalia and trappings reflecting their respective cultural heritage. All Chin and Shan suites feature a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and garden green. Ground floor Chin suites enjoy a “water moat”. The Rakhine suites are spacious and ideal for the business traveler. An outdoor shower with a slate wall of cascading water is the highlight of the honeymooner Kachin suites. ... more   less
