I enjoyed the stay in this hotel ,although only for 2nights. I had a free foot massage which was relaxing and also free cocktails both days . Though they had mosquito lamps, I did not come across any. We did lot of tours from the hotel as it was central to most of the places we visited.

The hotel by the Red Canal is a great boutique hotel option in Mandalay very well located near the Mandalay Palace. It is extremely welcoming with friendly staff ready to help and make suggestions. It is an oasis of calm with a lovely small pool, excellent business facilities with PCs and printers, and provides complementary tea on the balcony at...

We stayed in a Chin Room at this boutique hotel at the beginning of November 2016. The room was very comfortable and was in a quiet location near to most sights in Mandalay and beyond. Would certainly recommend this hotel and helpful staff. It has a pool but we were too busy to use it. The restaurant for evening meals...

All looks good on arrival , but on our recent trip we stopped in room 206 which must have the worst view from any hotel ever and should not be rented out . should have known when the curtains were drawn . There is no bar and drinks orders from the restaurant are very slow and restaurant food is living...

The Hotel by the Red Canal, Mandalay is a small, family run hotel of high quality. The staff are warm and courteous and ever helpful. The hotel is richly designed in traditional teak wood finish with comfortable, custom-sized rooms; we stayed in a Chin Room which was well appointed, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The bath/shower access was not easy...

Great and charming boutique hotel in the middle of the city. Clean, friendly, with plenty of atmosphere. Like everywhere in Burma, the service and staff are exceptional. Eager to please, with a ready smile, and a clear dedication to receiving guests graciously. Not a resort, even though it markets itself as such, so keep your expectations in line. The one...

Stayed here for 3 days the beginning of October, small intimate hotel, lovely rooms not huge but very comfortable. The staff are very welcoming and eager to make your stay as pleasant as they can. The free spa treatment was a lovely touch and much appreciated as was cocktail hour. The restaurant served a very nice breakfast and the Indian themed...

The hotel is an oasis in the center of town. Some sites are very close and easily walked to.They arranged a car for us for the distant ones and it was not much more than a taxi for the day. Their restaurant is a superb Indian one confirmed by some Indian guests eating beside us. We did not like the...

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel and it was fantastic. We had a twin room on the ground floor with a veranda overlooking the gardens. The room was a bit small but beautiful with great attention to detail. The pool is a bit small but again was in a lovely setting. Had complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits/cake all...

We spent 2 nights in this Hotel; recommend a room in the upper floors. Staff is very friendly and effective, some of the Advertising Pictures give somehow a "wrong" Picture, it is a rather small pool and garden; but as there are not many People, it is not an issue. As there is nothing important in Walking distance, we used...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An oasis by the landmark Red Canal in local folklore just minutes from the famed Mandalay Palace and other attractions, The Hotel by the Red Canal is a convenient sanctuary, with its lush tropical greenery and calming water features, amidst the hustle and bustle of Myanmar's cultural city. “By choosing to stay with us, we will provide you with the extra measure of quality, comfort and personal convenience that you are looking for. Being small, we are able to provide personal attention to the needs, wants, and expectations of every guest.” The boutique-style hotel is a celebration of all things Myanmar, featuring teak furniture and fixtures & fittings made from rattan, mother-of-pearl and other local materials as well as Myanmar marble lining the bathroom walls. Each of the 4 types of guestrooms or customized suites, differentiated by individual style, bears the name of the major ethnic groups in multi-cultural Myanmar and is adorned with rich traditional paraphernalia and trappings reflecting their respective cultural heritage. All Chin and Shan suites feature a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and garden green. Ground floor Chin suites enjoy a “water moat”. The Rakhine suites are spacious and ideal for the business traveler. An outdoor shower with a slate wall of cascading water is the highlight of the honeymooner Kachin suites. ... more   less
