We spent two nights and had a very enjoyable stay. Rooms are clean and cute. Actual hot water. Good asian/western breakfast on beautiful rooftop. Wifi worked pretty well. Staff were very sweet and helpful.

The hotel has a bit of Fawlty Towers feel to it, in the best possible way. Rooms might not be luxurious, and some more sunlight would have been nice (and softer pillows), but the staff more than made up for it. Incredibly friendly, funny and authentic, and easily gave advise, booked ferry tickets, arranged taxis etc. Location is also very...

This 2 star hotel deserves more than is two stars. It is a recently renovated hotel that is very comfortable and good value. The staff are very eager to please and its location is close to the city area and close to eateries. Breakfast in the rooftop area is very pleasant.

Travelled to Mandalay for the first time in February 2016 and stayed at the Royal City hotel and was so impressed with the experience that I didn't consider any other accommodation on my return trip in December 2016. The staff were so welcoming it was like a homecoming and this feeling continued during my stay. Breakfast on the rooftop with...

Fine place to stay for a night or two. The street outside was always thumping with music festivals so our nights were pretty loud. The reception folks do not speak much english so its not very easy to get help or advice. The lobby smell is very musty peculiar (dirty dishes, mixed in with some sweaty clothes that have been...

Firstly the positives - lovely, warm, friendly staff who bend over backwards to help with any questions and arrange taxis/tours. Large, exceptionally clean room. Decent breakfast served on the rooftop. Within walking distance of several decent restaurants. However, this is where the positives end! My husband got an electric shock from a live wire hanging out of the wall near...

We loved Royal City hotel in Mandalay. The rates are VERY fair for what you get. We arrived at 4 am from the Bus station and were warmly greeted by the night receptionist. He made sure we could already go to our room to have a rest, no extra charge! The rooms are spacious, breakfast is good (on the rooftop!)...

Clean room, toilet and shower, delicious breakfast (tempura vegetable, tofu, fried rice, noodles, fruit juice, coffee & tee, toast, sausages), welcoming rooftop. But the most important: i forgot my passport in another city, they send it to the Mandalay-busstation late in the evening. The receptionist found out the name of the busdriver (!), to tell him to deliver it to...
