We stayed here for a few days in April. Marc, the owner arranged a taxi from the airport for our arrival & return. He was most welcoming & helpful. The apartment was comfortable and well-equipped. The decor was fascinating - pictures, old photos and maps. There were plenty of books to read and guidebooks to help plan your visit. Situated...

Comfortable and spacious apartment in a lovely building with good amenities and well equipped kitchen. Lots of interesting books and decorations, and old maps on display. Quiet and private despite being right next to the wall. We ate in the apartment a couple of times because it was such a pleasant place to be. The views over the harbour and...

A very charming accommodation, lots of interesting gee-gaws to enjoy, cosy, great views over the city walls, and a wonderfully genial host. I would highly recommended a stay at the karmen apartments in the heart of Dubrovnik.

Overall, this apartment exceeds my expectation. The location is convenient. It is only a 3-minute walk to the wall and there are some nice restaurants nearby. The room is very clean, better than plenty of hotels I've stayed in. The decoration of apartment is lovely. A wide selection of books is available in the apartment to kill time. The space...

- Convenient, if you want to be in Old Town. - Nice apartment w/lots of amenities like a kettle, small refrigerator, great view. - Wonderful host. - It was not cumbersome to get to because I had one carryon luggage that was easy to pull and I knew where I was going.

To be able to stay within the medieval walls of Dubrovnik in an apartment overlooking the harbor was a great experience. We were in apartment #1 for three days and really felt at home. We dropped off our rental car just outside the old city walls and had a short walk to the apartment which was easy to find just...

Compact flat with everything you need--we stayed in the smallest unit, on the ground floor. The unit had a mini kitchen with a fridge, sink, etc., and Marc was a friendly and accommodating host who has been there for decades and knows the area well. Highly recommended. Would stay there again.

We were met by our host Marc who took us to the apartment. He was extremely helpful and informative which meant we had a fantastic stay in Dubrovnik. Our apartment was small and quirky, but had everything we needed. To be in the city walls was fantastic and very atmospheric. Everything we needed was literally on our doorstep. We would...

Couldn't have asked for a better location, apartment or host. Marc was fantastic, delivering a mini impromptu tour as he collected us from the gate. Marking locations on a map he provided, we used his recommendations to plan some of our days. The apartment was lovely and was very clean. We can't wait to come back!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Karmen Apartments "Personal character and charm within the ramparts." REVIEW The fabulous location right within the ramparts of Old Town would be reason enough to stay here. But with so many fascinating details and your enthralling Anglo-Canadian host, this is a place that you just won't want to leave. Marc van Bloemen has lived in Dubrovnik since 1972, speaks fluent Croat and probably knows more local history than most locals. Every inch of his fine stone mansion is decorated with art, souvenirs, old photos and fascinating keepsakes. From kitschy collages of sea-smoothed glass 'pebbles', to the 1923 'character wall' or the original Marcel Marceau self-portrait, every item tells a story. All rooms are comfortable, air-conditioned and offer a little kitchenette. There's even free wi-fi. Room No 2 features wonderful Deakin semi-naive still-life paintings. It has a small balcony overlooking partly overgrown walls albeit with no real views. The smallest (and cheapest) ground-floor room displays a framed series of Vasko Lipovac prints and was used as the make-up room when the BBC filmed Casanova here during November 2004. ... more   less
