If to judge by the place itself I would have given it 5stars the view and the site is incredibly beautiful the accommodation is amazing! comfortable earthly and u will not want to leave. The food was amazing tasty and adjusted to all flavours and diets But and there is a big one The overall feeling is greedy We stayed there for 2 nights. U are not allowed to bring food and drinks inside and they charge u for everything even breakfast which is usually comes with accommodation. They charged us full price of the night before we got there and they called It "deposit" They not tell you that the way in and out is a hard climb with no good access. If we would have known, we would have left our luggage in Antigua (most of the travelers are not local and do have a lot of luggage) At the checkout we were surprised to know they charged us for 100q for the help with our luggage, which we only got cus we called them from upstairs, most guests won't have the local SIM card to do that and will have to carry it down. (They did cancelled that charge after we complained that we didn't even known) This information was not written in any of the website they have or advertise the place It really spoiled the great feeling we had before leaving In overall I would highly recommend the place the staff was very nice the prices of accommodation food and activities does reasonable for that kind of place.the owner even gave us complimentary glasses of wine science we told them we were celebrating our honeymoon We took the massage package which came with a sauna and a drink The therapist were professional and the whole treatment was amazing and much luxurious. and the Mayan type sauna was beautiful and relaxing We would recommend this place just leave your luggage in Antigua and come light for a relaxing and beautiful vication

Bed: Forget good rest, you will have springs in your back, have extra money for the chiropractor as you might need a neck adjustment after your stay. Getting there and Transportation: You are not informed on how to get here. You will most likely get ripped off by a tuk tuk because this is really outside of Antigua,. Once you arrive to the drop off point, there is no one to help you with your suitcase. Don’t arrive after dark, there is no lighting and if your phone is dead to use as a flashlight, try not to twist your ankle on your hike down to Earth lodge. Once you arrive, you have have to hike into the place. It is located around a rural area in a poor village. Celebrate culture right? Staff: The accommodation is owned by an American. Literally, typical, valley girl, blonde American with zero regard to nature or culture. The staff are not Guatemalan except for maintenance, cleaning, and cooking. Instead the staff are tone-death expats and who can care less about Guatemalan culture or it’s people. Behavior: They certainly are entitled and barely offer help. If you should ask for support or help, they will give you an attitude. I get it. Working on a mountain top must be so hard. At least, try to be kind. That is absolutely not what you will receive. They are rude, unprofessional, Take up more space than the guests, loud, and again, rude. They seem to operate half stoned and clueless of what it means to be alert and help guests. After all the accommodation is not he cheapest place in town. The view: It’s a nice view and you can also come up here for breakfast to see it if you must. You will get a decent view anywhere from 6:00am -10:00am any view point in Antigua. I didn’t know that. At night, it becomes very cloudly and i stayed s couple of nights, you won’t see anything at night. Don’t bother. Wifi: Does not work in room or anywhere outside of the dining area. If you are trying to enjoy the view in privacy, you won’t. You have to cone down and hope to find a place to connect in the main area. Relaxing: If you can find the way to relax amongst the loud, rude staff, the all-night barking dogs, the cold, the winds, springs poking you at night, the discomfort, the battery packs in your room, the discomfort of it all. Then you must be so exhausted. Shuttle service: Lack of communication, no opportunity to messenger so you have to pay for the call, the shuttle looks worst that a chicken bus. The entire experience is terrible. I wanted to and tried hard to make it a good experience for myself but Im the guest right, could the accommodation possibly offer a solution? Can I be welcomed with more clarity? Could the staff offer a solution? That was not the case. If you are coming to Antigua - then stay in Antigua. If you want nature- go to Aitlan. Truly, the effort to get here plus the experience will leave you feeling restless and resentful. This is a real experience and it was bad. I wish people would be more honest. With such little time to enjoy my holiday, I wish I would have stayed in Antigua and saved myself the stress.

Horrible experience- woke up with a snake in my bed!!! The staff was nice enough but the owner who claims to be zen yoga was the rudest nastiest person. There are to many beautiful places in Guatemala tp waste your money here.

This review is false and unfortunately TripAdvisor will not let us remove it. We had no guest with this name and no reports of a snake in anyone's bed! Morever, we have never had a snake in any of the rooms or tents in almost 19 years of being in business. We encourage anyone reading this review to keep scrolling and read the more positive reviews below.

I had such a great experience here. I stayed in the treehouse for 3 nights. The views were incredible to wake up to! The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The food is delicious, I enjoyed every meal I ate. It is definitely a bit of a trek to get there so don’t bring a lot of luggage! I actually enjoyed the exercise though because I’m an active person and like to keep fit during my travels. I also happened to leave my gold rings there in my room and one of the staff members was so kind to bring them to me at my next accommodations. Appreciate the gesture and kindness SO much! Will absolutely stay here again in the future!

An idillic place to spend some time, just outside of Antigua. The treehouses are so cute, the views are amazing, the facilities, food, staff etc were all great. Would recommend getting the Earth Lodge shuttle as it is tricky to find / get to and there is a hilly walk from the pick up / drop off point - just to be warned, especially when you're carrying your bags!

I stayed in the Tree House for 3 nights with my boyfriend and didn’t want to leave! Such a magical spot overlooking the volcanoes, and the whole atmosphere was super relaxing. I took advantage of the morning yoga (which was excellent) and we really enjoyed the food and drinks on offer. We didn’t leave the site once and didn’t feel the need to. They kept food and drink prices sensible and it was all very tasty. We loved the eco-friendly nature of it too and how at one with nature we felt. They also wrote a lovely sign for my birthday and have some excellent engagement spots...!

I stayed 1 night in the famous tree house. There was a landslide so the hike down was a bit longer than usual for most folks but it was beautiful and very easy. The front desk folks are fantastic. I had a 1 hour massage with Dora and it was one of the very best I’ve had. The treehouse itself is VERY small but so comfortable and I loved being able to swing in the hammock for hours just relaxing. The food is ok and certainly good be a bit better I ordered a chicken quesadilla for lunch (the tortilla was soggy so everything fell through) and a BLT for dinner (bread was soggy) but breakfast I got the Chapin and it was delicious (coffee was like water though) Overall an AMAZING and fantastic place. I am planning on coming back the next time I am there. I highly recommend it

After being quite jetlagged, I wanted a relaxing day. I was unable to book an Uber and so called the Earth lodge directly to organise a shuttle. The staff were very helpful in organising and the temezcal and smell of real burning wood was wonderful. I enjoyed their freshly prepared food and hibiscus kombucha. Would highly recommend. Unfortunately the road has eroded and so we have to walk about a kilometre. Please be mindful with luggage choices. Just wish I had booked to stay the night.

It's hard to summarize just how awesome Earth Lodge is, but I will give it my best shot!! First of all...yes, it is not the easiest place to get to, but that's what makes it part of the adventure!! Earth Lodge is an eco friendly hotel that is situated on the side of a mountain so that means walking up and down a path to get there. Uber can be hit and miss, but they do have their own (paid) shuttle, which we never had a problem with. Because it's slightly isolated, that means that it is SUPER quiet and peaceful. The staff are amazingly friendly, the food is so fresh and delicious and the rooms are all different and comfortable. We kept extending our stay, so moved to 3 different rooms. And the yoga studio!!! Seriously the most amazing yoga space I have ever seen. Huge windows look out to the volcanos, and the birds are chirping during your morning classes!! We took several classes and loved every one. We saw that they also offer massages, but weren't able to organize a time, as the masseuse was always booked. We wished we could've stayed longer, but had a flight out and had to go!! The hotel was able to organize a Covid test for us so we could return home, and the lab worker came straight up to the lodge so we didn't have to waste time going down to Antigua. Definitey would recommend for nature lovers, and those that are looking for a different, chill experience.

We arrived via private transportation for a 2 night stay in Casa Del Encino. Reception is friendly and able to explain the services and fee structure (pay at the end for food/beverage and any room charges). We didn't mind the 300m hike down so much since we were expecting it. The Casa Del Encino is fine, the view is beautiful. There is only one working light and the outlet fits pretty loose. The bathroom is pretty rustic but the shower was nice and hot. Be prepared to be one with nature and see a few spider friends during your stay. We arranged the romantic package with a bottle of wine, flowers, and chocolate upon arrival to our room which was quite lovely. The food was freshly prepared with good ingredients - nothing incredibly authentic but tasty all the same. Same goes for the drinks. It was difficult to get picked up from the 300m point, in fact it never actually happened. Ubers will refuse to drive up there; however you can catch the Chicken bus into the center of Antigua for about 5Q/person. That pick up point is 1km away from the lodge and we were able to actually snag an Uber to the airport from that spot on the day of departure. In returning to the US, the current COVID policy requires a COVID test within a day. If you're traveling on the weekend there are no places that can do testing in Antigua; however, the Earth Lodge folks said someone can sometimes come by to do an antigen or PCR test at the lodge. We didn't get to do that since they weren't available. We instead planned on completing our COVID tests at the airport and arriving 3-4 hours before our departure, which meant leaving Earth Lodge at around 6:30am. We confirmed with reception that they would meet us at the 300m pickup point and closed our tab. We were at the pickup point early (6:20) and waited until 6:40 before deciding to walk to the 1km pickup point. We got there and still no transportation. We ended up negotiating with an Uber driver to pick us up there and take us to the airport for 200Q cash. During this time there was no one at Earth Lodge that we could contact and we weren't given any contact info for the transportation. Moral of this story - don't even attempt to get picked up at the 300m point. Be prepared to wait and be flexible with your travel plans.
