As others have said, the location of this place is great, just a few minutes' walk from the ferry port and the centre of town, but down a side street so it's not too noisy. The house is nicely decorated and has that old-world-charm feel to it. That does mean that if you're looking for a 5* luxury hotel as...

My girlfriend and I spent the weekend at The Carlisle House and had a great time. We arrived early on Friday morning and were happily greeted by Heather the owner. I figured that since we were early we would have to wait several hours for our room to be ready. Heather informed us that our room would only be a...

I disagree with a previous reviewer who said this inn isn't charming. It has a lot of charm. If you have ever travelled to Ireland or Great Britain and stayed in guest homes there, that's what this is like. The peeling wallpaper and creaky floors are fine...it makes for a very authentic experience of staying in an antique home. There...

A friend of mine and I decided to book the Carlisle House based on the location and charm. We were in the Madaket room which is on the 3rd floor and had 2 twin beds. Upon arrival the Inn Keeper, Heather greeted us with a warm smile and showed us a nice living room area where you could sit and...

My wife and I stayed at the Carlisle House Inn recently. It's conveniently located near town and within walking distance of the ferry & bike/car rental shops. A glorious old home nestled on a small and quaint cobblestone road. Our room and private bathroom was cheery and clean. The carpeting was brand new. Heather, our hostess, made us feel very...

My wife and I just spent two glorious nights at this wonderful inn. The bedroom and private bath were first class, as was Heather, the owner and hostess. Breakfast included fresh fruit and homemade baked cakes...banana, carrot and cranberry during our stay. There was always something to nibble on at the front desk main. Heather admitted that she liked to...

This place is acceptable, but not great. Our room was very clean, and the bed was comfy (new mattress?). The Innkeeper was quite helpful and personable, and the location was perfect--short walk to downtown, while still on a quiet street. The breakfast offerings were fresh, but not creative. The breakfast area was tiny and cramped, not at all comfortable. Our...

This guest stayed in the same room as the previous reviewer, demonstrating that the comfort of a bed is a very personal matter! We are pleased that this guest found the bed so comfortable and appreciated the cleanliness of our inn, which we consider of the utmost importance. Décor is also a matter of personal taste. The room this guest...

The Carlisle House is conveniently located close to town, in a nice quiet location just a few minutes walk from everything. We stayed in a room on the second floor that turned out to be fairly small and cramped - and while we normally might not have minded so much, the weather was not great during our stay and the...

We realize that what one person might find comfortable in a bed, another might not. This particular room is very popular, in fact we have repeat guests who always request it! While not the largest of our rooms, it is 15 by 15 feet, with enough room for a queen canopy bed and two wing chairs. Unfortunately we were experiencing...

We have come to this great inn for a few years. Wonderful location and charm. Heather is a pleasure to deal with. Love the availability of beach towels and the breakfast. We are able to leave our luggage on departure day so we can extend our visit to the Island. Inn is always clean and hospitable. The side yard is...

I just recently spent three days/two nights here - my wife and I actually booked a reservation at another hotel on the island that was suppose to open in early June but did not because it had not obtained its certificate of occupancy yet. We were fortunately re-located to the Carlisle House Inn. We were very pleased with this inn....
