Stayed at Ciro's for three weeks while studying at Casco Spanish. Ciro was always helpful and him and his mother were very welcoming, encouraging me to speak in Spanish. Very well priced accommodation in a good area of Panama City. Public transport to and from school is not convenient, then again that's a given for most of Panama City and taxis cost between 2 and 2.50 one way to Ciro's so it's not too expensive.

I stayed here a week while attending Casco Viejo Spanish school. Ciro and Cachy are warm, kind and have a wealth of info. Their home is located in the Balboa, Ancon, centrally located to everything you might want to do in Panama City and beyond. The home is in part of the old US Military base housing, wide streets, quiet, safe and plenty to walk to nearby. The rooms are modest and comfy, there is a great outdoor area and I loved hearing the birds in the morning. The guests were interesting, respectful and friendly. I would stay there over and over

I stayed here for 1 week and it was great. The family is really nice and Ciro knows all the ins and outs of the city. The location is great too, as it lies between Casco Viejo, Amador, the Panama canal, ancon hill and the big bus terminal. Therefore it was really easy to get to most of the great places Panama city has to offer. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were a bit small. But you can ask for an extra pillow. They have three showers, but one didn't had hot water. The others were good though and always free when I wanted to use one of them. A very nice family and a great location!

It is exactly what it says, a HOMEstay. Cachy and Ciro have a few rooms in their home for guests, mainly people who stay longer. They are very nice and friendly people, I stayed over X-Mas and they invited me for their X-Mas dinner which had a lot of very tasty food. The room was simple, but that's what I payed for. The house is clean and has a kitchen and a nice terrace over the garden. Opposite to the simple rooms Ciro offers some very posh tours. I guess they are worth it (daytrips for $225 or $150!) as he seems a serious guy. But when you want simple information you have to know exactly what you want to know to get it. P.e. there are lots of busses going close by their house including the bus I arrived with. But Ciro advised me to go to Albrook and take a taxi. Also I found out myself that there are busses going to Albrook as a taxi might only cost around $4/5 but that really adds up. For me it was hard to know exactly what to ask for, but if you know I guess you will get the right answer. I probably was not clear enough and of course they don't know what kind of guest you are (posh or budget) in advance.

Staying at Jamraka was a great pleasure! Ciro and Mama Cachy were the perfect host's. I had everything you could need from a great kitchen to cook in to a wash machine to do laundry. My room was comfortable and I slept like a baby. This felt more like staying at home with family and friends and I enjoyed the interaction between everyone. There's a great balcony patio were reading a good book, surfing the net or having a home cooked meal with fellow traveller's makes Jamraka a great place to unwind after a day out in the city. Access to Panama City and the rest of Panama was a breeze and if exercise is your thing like mine, the Amador Causeway is close by where you can watch ships coming and going from the Panama Canal. I would highly recommend Jamraka when staying in Panama City.
