We had a lovely stay at mamallenas. The hostel is so chilled out and you can relax on the sofas all day! The wifi is brilliant and the facilities are all very clean and a good standard! It's slightly out of the main area but it's a 5 minute taxi or a 40 minute walk. The manager/owner is so nice...

Great staff. Location is OK unless you have to be in a neighborhood where everything looks perfect. This is more like the real Panama - and a metro is not that far away. Restrooms and kitchen are clean - and that's important. A/C goes on at 9pm (when I didn't need it...), so don't expect to sit in your room...

Panama city is kinda expensive, so don't expect anything for a less than 10$ for a night. Unless mamallena is full and they will allow you to sleep on a couch for 5$, if not there is a pretty nice and comfortable bed in dormitory for 13,2 $ with a breakfast. I am not a big fan of pancaces, but...

We stayed here in June for one night in Panama City. It was a great hostel and you have the ability to make your own pancakes in the morning. Further, we booked via this hostel our 3-day-trip to the San Blas island for relatively little money. They organised everything and it was gorgeous! Further, the hostel has two nice common...

For the price I'd say it can't be beat in Panama City. The free pancakes alone cover a third of the cost! Otherwise good atmosphere, helpful staff, felt clean and safe (tho I can't recall if there was locked storage for backpacks--I don't think so)! Location isn't great however, as it is far from the Old Town and there seemed...

Well placed in the center of Bocas, this international hostel offers individual rooms and dorms and lovely patios and spaces to chill. Also has a tour agency which organizes all sorts of excursions for reasonnable prices. Good to know : they have a shuttle to Bocas for 25$ including boat (instead of 30$ for non-mamallena residents)

Mamallena hostal was our first stop in South America and we staid 2 nights here. The hostal is not located in the nicest part of the city, but you can get everywhere very easily with taxis, which are not expensive (for the trip to casco viejo you pay aporox $3.50-4). We slept in a dorm for 8 people and we...

This was a nice hostel in an interesting part of panama city, less touristy but felt safe enough. Close to cheap places to eat and shop, as well as easy transport into the more touristy areas. The staff were always very friendly and helpful, and available 24/7. I emailed them in advance to inquire about and book my sailing trip...

This was a great place to stay in Panama City as a base and then to go to the San Blas islands. They have a booklet which clearly shows the cost and a few options for where to stay. There's a kitchen and you're also near super markets, restaurants and close to the local buses. Good place to stay

I only stayed here for a night, and although I enjoyed all the lounge areas and the cheap beer, as well as the friendly guy's service on reception (Edgardo?), my room was right off the main lounge and reception area so it was loud until late and it was super hot all night, even though they said the AC would...
