I've been traveling through Central America since April and I must say that Mamallena was easily one of the best, if not the best hostel I've stayed in so far. The waterfront/deck is the best I've seen in Bocas (and I have been there for a little over a month) with quite a few starfishes around. Also, you can swim...

Had all the amenities and was easy to find. Nothing fancy but had good internet and a bird so we were happy for the one night we stayed there. Customer service was good and there was lots of information on what was nearby for where to eat and shop.

Lots of space to hang out, lounge with tv and separate small balcony, additional tv in large covered lounge/terrace at the rear with large dining table and lots of soft seating. Garden area at the back with seating. Reasonably well equipped kitchen. Make your own pancakes every morning with pancake mix provided and plenty of tea and coffee all day....

Sorry you felt that way about the area, we are in a bit of a residential area but it is 50 metres from Panama Cities main road and right between El Cangreo and casco Viejo, for easy of transport you cant get a better location. Sometimes at night theres not so many people on the streets but that doesnt mean...

The atmosphere is amazing. The staff is very friendly and will help u with everything u need. Free wifi also! It's in a good spot off Panama city, everything is close. They serve free pancakes in the morning and have air conditioning. You can just relax and watch some TV, listen too music or get connected with all the other...

We had a lovely stay at mamallenas. The hostel is so chilled out and you can relax on the sofas all day! The wifi is brilliant and the facilities are all very clean and a good standard! It's slightly out of the main area but it's a 5 minute taxi or a 40 minute walk. The manager/owner is so nice...

Great staff. Location is OK unless you have to be in a neighborhood where everything looks perfect. This is more like the real Panama - and a metro is not that far away. Restrooms and kitchen are clean - and that's important. A/C goes on at 9pm (when I didn't need it...), so don't expect to sit in your room...

Panama city is kinda expensive, so don't expect anything for a less than 10$ for a night. Unless mamallena is full and they will allow you to sleep on a couch for 5$, if not there is a pretty nice and comfortable bed in dormitory for 13,2 $ with a breakfast. I am not a big fan of pancaces, but...

We stayed here in June for one night in Panama City. It was a great hostel and you have the ability to make your own pancakes in the morning. Further, we booked via this hostel our 3-day-trip to the San Blas island for relatively little money. They organised everything and it was gorgeous! Further, the hostel has two nice common...

For the price I'd say it can't be beat in Panama City. The free pancakes alone cover a third of the cost! Otherwise good atmosphere, helpful staff, felt clean and safe (tho I can't recall if there was locked storage for backpacks--I don't think so)! Location isn't great however, as it is far from the Old Town and there seemed...
