We spent two nights here before heading to the coast, which was more than enough. We arrived about 9pm from the airport in a taxi, tired and stressed because our luggage had not arrived. The lady on reception was pleasant enough but didn't speak any English and we don't speak Spanish so it was really challenging to to explain the...

Ximena's is in a safe area of town with leafy streets, quaint houses and friendly people. The rooms are basic but have A/C, a fan and hot water. There are dorms and private rooms. The best part of the experience was the owner, Lena. She has lived in San Salvador a long time and knows everything about the city and...

I hesitate to give the hostel such a low rating because the owner is seriously awesome. She is knowledgeable and passionate about the country and I was very happy I followed her suggestions for places to visit, transport to take, etc. It's just really unfortunate that the place is in such poor, decrepit condition (it was generally clean but needs...

My friend and I stayed at Ximena's for three nights in San Salvador. As everyone else has said, the location is good. It's safe, and only a short walk from several bus lines and the MetroCentro mall. Maya Burger is a local comedor, and it appears to be open all night. Staff there were great, even allowing us to chill...

We started our Central America trip in ximenas and it turned out to be a great decision. The location is great to get your bearings in San Salvador, close to the huge metro centre, tons of places to eat nearby and great local places 2 mins down the street, all the cheap beer and paposas you could ask for. It's...

We stayed in room 9 which is right by reception. It was just a tiny bit wider than a double bed. Thankfully there was a private bathroom and a small amount of space for bags etc. Patio area was small and very enclosed, not amazing. Hotal staff were really helpful, we were getting a Tica bus very early and they...

We stayed at Ximena's for two nights, mainly just to break up the travel from Guatemala to Nicaragua. The location is nice as it is in a safe area, which is probably its largest benefit. We stayed in the private room with private bath, which was a nice size, and it was a surprise that they had hot water. However...

We stayed for two nights, in a private double room. The hotel was located just off Boulevard los Heroes, and in a safe residential neighbourhood. It was very convenient for buses and the large mall. The owner, Lena, was also very helpful with information on places to see, transport, etc. The rooms were overall adequate and relatively clean, but the...

Sure, prices are listed, along with the amenities, but this place comes with petty and quite ridiculous charges on the backend of your reservation. They charge $5 for use of a locker in one of the world's most dangerous cities. Hostels offer this to give their patrons peace of mind during their stay in communal settings. There is no functioning...

Norwegian owner Lena provides guests with a hot shower, kitchen, lots of easy transport connections, large dining room are for groups, and it is quiet. The area is very safe and almost right across from the Metrocentro mall, cinema, and restaurant complex. The owner is also very helpful at organizing transport in and out of the city as well as...
