A really great hotel in a beautiful location between the centre and Podil district with stunning views! Went to a friend’s wedding party there in August 2021. Administrator Lisa is the best, all her restaurant recommendations proved to be superb! Very much recommended.
Beautifully situated at the top of the Vozdvyzhenska area in which the old building have been restored and painted, and halfway up one of Kiev's oldest streets. The room was not the largest, but it was comfortable with a lovely big walk-in shower and comfortable bed. We couldn't fault the staff for their professionalism, helpfulness and friendliness. Although we didn't take advantage, there was money off the restaurant and a cocktail evening. I couldn't comment on the breakfast either as we went out to explore the city's food. Would definitely stay there again if we travel to Kiev again.
The Vozdvyzhensky looks nice from the outside. It's in a very wealthy part of the city, surrounded by money-laundered art and fashion houses dripping with corruption. Our stay was ghastly, and I would urge anyone thinking of staying here to sleep rough by way of preference. What makes it so awful - as is true of any venue - is the usual: our room was cramped ("boutique" shouldn't equate to tiny), there was neither tea nor coffee in our room, the air-conditioning didn't work, and - unforgivably - the service was atrocious. The lady working at reception couldn't have done less for us, and she appeared genuinely put-out that we had chosen the Vozdvyzhensky for our stay. Her ice-pick features and rude responses to simple questions (noting that she spoke good English) extended to the overt kick-back arrangement she was operating with the "one" taxi service the Hotel used in the city. A journey from the Hotel to the airport should cost no more than 550H. She quoted just under 800. Fortunately, the driver agreed to take us for 600. We were happy to tip him. The breakfast was again dreadfully served (although our poached eggs were very fine), and not one of the staff smiled or thought even to engage with us, or the other guest with whom we shared breakfast. Rudeness is unacceptable in a hotel over-charging like this place, and we would never under any circumstances return. This is an appalling hotel - made pathetic by its hilarious use of coffee-table pornography in the lobby. Go instead to the Hotel Opera. The receptionist at the Vozdvyzhensky should probably do the same and learn a thing or two.…
This was an excellent base for sightseeing in Kyiv with friends. It is very close to St Andrew’s church and is right on the Descent. Hotel staff speak good English and are extremely courteous and helpful. We were upgraded on arrival which we appreciated. The rooms were spacious and decorated in a quirky boutique style. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was beautifully clean and contained everything you might need. I did not eat at the hotel but there are many excellent restaurants and cafes in the surrounding area. However, the hotel provides free tea and cake in the afternoon and a member of staff even brought a cake to my room - a very nice touch :) I would not hesitate to return.
We enjoyed staying at this hotel in Kiev ....it was an easy place from which to walk around the older parts of Kiev albeit a bit of a climb back at the end of the day . The rooms are of a reasonable size and the beds were comfortable . Mostly quiet unless we left the window open . Very helpful housekeeping staff and a great laundry service . Some interesting art works throughout the hotel . Breakfast on the top terrace was okay but the choice was a bit limited
