We stayed here for 6 nights in late December, 2020 and at times loved the place and at other times were rather underwhelmed. The Positives - Great staff working in the front of the hotel. The concierge, Vuk, was more helpful than any concierge with whom we have ever interacted. He went out of his way to make sure we were happy and that all plans were in order. The two daytime/evening doormen were also exceptionally helpful and friendly. The women behind the desk were also great (except for our initial room assignment - see below). - Nice fitness center and spa. My wife still raves about Dragona and her magic fingers. - Location. Close to everything. The Not-so-Positives - Pretty much every other member of the staff. The service in the restaurant for breakfast was pretty terrible and reminded me of Eastern European service just after the wall came down. Indifferent, bordering on rude. Housekeeping was focused on getting in and out of rooms quickly and not necessarily keeping house. We had to ask for towels, coffee, replacement dishes pretty much every night we were there. - Tired room. Although the weather never got above the mid-40s, we were constantly warm in our rooms (we had 2). We turned the A/C on but that only marginally helped. I can't imagine how bad it would be during the summer if faced with the same circumstances. - Recognition of Titanium Elites. When we checked into a nearly empty hotel, we were given 2 rooms looking out on a parking lot on a floor that was occupied by a rather noisy and messy (leaving food containers out in the hallway) group that was in Belgrade filming a movie. After one night, we asked for better rooms, which we were given (except for the A/C), but why did I have to ask? I would think that my loyalty would have been recognized ab initio and that we would have been given the nicest rooms they had, but no. As a postscript, I just filled out the Hotel Ratings (see below) and although I gave the hotel a 4/Very Good rating above, my individual ratings were average. Service was average because the high performers (Vuk, Dragona, et al) were dragged down by the slackers. The room was nice, but ultimately only average because of the A/C. And the cleanliness was only average because the housekeeping staff didn't seem to care very much. Would we stay here again? Only if we knew exactly what we were getting in terms of rooms.…
We stayed at this hotel for 5 days. When we arrived we had to wait for more than one hour for our room to be ready. When we got the room it wasn't even clean and one bed wasn't arranged. The towels weren't clean, the shampo and the shower gel were opened. Next morning the breakfast was an absolute disaster. It was obvious there was not enough staff! no one was available to clean up the tables, so we can sit. So we decided to eat outside of the hotel even though we already paid the hotel for breakfast. The room wasn't clean at all, I found popcorn under the bed so I'm not even sure they changed the bed sheets. There were no clean towels, we called almost everyday to bring us a clean one. Very dissapointing for an alleged 5 stars hotel, I would give them only one star!! Just avoid this hotel!! *We asked for the manager but he wasn't available!…
I just finished a 8 night stay here. I was a bit worried after reading some really horrible reviews. I'm Platinum Elite with Marriott, Diamond with Hilton and Globalist with Hyatt so I had a few options but the location of the hotel was in between 2 offices that I have in Belgrade so went with this option. This was my first time in Belgrade and the first time at this hotel. I had several co-workers that stayed here and they really enjoyed it. I booked a Special Suite as I wanted a bigger room in case I had work colleagues over for business meetings. I went with another colleague that was an Ambassador Elite. He booked a normal room and he got upgraded to a Maria Callas Suite which is HUGE. They also upgraded my suite to a Maria Callas Suite so I was really happy. The suite was very large with dining room table. I was in room #327 and he was in room #227 so maybe all the X27 are Maria Callas Suites. (You can see some of my photos). The rates for a normal room were about €105 per night +tax Special Suite was €225+ tax and Maria Callas Suite a whopping €440 + tax per night. They said they were only offering maid service every 3 nights. I think you can probably get it serviced more if you ask. There were maids constantly in the hallways. I got it twice during my stay and that was fine. Staff was very friendly but they only had 1 person working and sometimes lines were long. They say you have to wear masks in the hotel but honestly they didn't enforce it and many didn't. The staff all did at all times. I was working insane hours there as I was working a full day and then working my meetings in the USA so ordered room service a few times. Really the food isn't that great and VERY limited menu with COVID. And many times I called down NO ONE answered the phone. It was frustrating. The best thing about the hotel is the location. It's really awesome and I'm glad I booked here. I heard the Hyatt is nice but location was horrible. This was right in a great part of town and easy to get to Knez Mihailova which is a gorgeous must visit street. Breakfast was included each morning up on the 10th floor. They had a buffet which was pretty mediocre. They had the same exact thing every day which consisted of some super fatty bacon, some mini hot dog type sausages. Some eggs over easy and scrambled eggs. Various breads, grilled vegetables, cereals and pancakes. Nothing really great but good for a quick bite before work. The waiters aren't too friendly and it's just self serve. I asked for some ice for my orange juice one day and they looked pissed that I asked. Over all I don't find service too good locally and people are in a badish mood. (Exception was Dva Jelena restaurant which I HIGHLY recommend). Super friendly there. The doormen at the hotel are really friendly and they can call a taxi for you. You have to be careful I heard of the taxis but hotel can arrange with no problem. I also had my office staff get me a SIM card so I could activate the Car Go app. It's an Uber like app which worked ok. Not as good as Uber but it works. A trick if you can't find a location or can't type the foreign address is just to order and put no address and you can show the driver when you get in his car and he can enter it. I only used it a few times but It was affordable. I took a taxi that the hotel arranged from hotel to airport and it was only around $15 US equivalent and I gave him $20 (2,000 Dinar) and he was thrilled. The only main downside of the room was the AC didn't work well. I like the room really cold and although some days were colder and I'd just open the window, other sunny days it was warm in the room. I can NOT imagine staying here when it's warmer. I think on the warmest day it was 65 degrees and it was too warm in the room. The AC controls in my suite were in 4 different rooms and it said it went down very low but it would never get cooler than 22 degrees C with the thermostat. Thank God it got cooler at night. I would keep the windows open in the living room but in the bedroom it would be too much noise in the morning. No way I'd spend €440 per night on a suite here. I'd be ok just booking the cheapest room and hope for an upgrade. As a Platinum I also got a 25 minute free massage included. I upgraded to 30 more minutes for around $30 more. The massage wasn't that great. I like a strong massage and the woman wasn't that strong and was talking the entire time so not too relaxing. Funny that most people here are pro-Trump. They HATE Biden there or I guess Democrats in general for what happened to them before with bombing. All in all, I'd stay here again for location but I'd really ask them to put me in a room where AC works well.…
This was our first time at this hotel and In Serbia. We were 2 couples in 2 rooms. This is a five stars hotel situated on a main road with many shops and restaurants very near by. It is a short 10-15 minutes walk from the “center center “ - the Republic square. A taxi is available at $3-4 if wanted. The hotel has 10 floors and the 10th floor is the main breakfast, restaurant and dining room. Great views from up there of Belgrade. One can sit either inside or on the surrounding outside balcony. Besides the hotels restaurant on the 10th floor there is a caffe with limited operation hours and a few dishes on the ground floor- also with inside and outside seating which is great (at least for smokers like me...). The rooms are ok - very cousy and the bed is very comfortable. We were on the second floor. The room consists of all the usual amenities- flat screen TV, safe, small fridge, gowns. Toiletries. coffeemaker etc. We had a view of the attached park which was great. The hotels SPA is large and enjoyable. My wife took a few treatments (massage, manicure and pedicure) and I used the dry sauna once. The hotels entire staff are generally very polite and helpful. I got to meet and speak a bit to the hotels general manager, Ioannis who seems a very nice person. The only neg thing that I can think of is that the service at night at the restaurant on the top floor was very very slow. Except for that on the one night that we ate at the hotel all other dozen times that we ate there breakfast or just had a afternoon or night coffee the service was great! We will no doubt return to The Metropol Palace Hotel if ever back in Belgrade. …
Second visit, after many years. it is true that the Hotel looks older and need some maintenance. But the kindness and efficiency of the staff give back all credits. And there is a new rooftop with extraordinary views of the city where you get the breakfast! and the best gym and spa with a great indoor pool !Strongly recommended!
