I highly recommend this hostel, the staff was very nice and the place is very calm, the hostel is located close to everything and its also very clean. We also met some very nice people that we hope to meet in other trips that made our stay unique, we cooked all together a very tasty pasta..

This place rules! The hostel is pretty clean, the staff is very nice, the beds are comfy, and the wifi is always working. I would stay here during any visit to Uruguay. They are located a 5 minute walk to the grocery store and about 15mins to the beach. The small kitchen could be an issue if there were a...

We've stayed here for two nights. Nacho and the rest of his colleagues are very kind and the location is good. The beach is just a two minut walk. There is a big supermarket just one block away and the busstation is close by. The breakfast is what you can expect in a hostal. We really enjoyed our stay in...

I stayed at this hostel for 3 nights, maybe it was because the bad weather and that I was inside a lot. They play loud music from early morning to late at night. Usually I don't mind some music, but som of the music was really depresing and anoying. Didn't really like the violet room in the basement either, it...

We stayed for one night in the basement room and then had to change hostel. We arrived late in the afternoon and the room was not ready yet. They were out of pillowcases so they gave us bed sheets to wrap the (very old and yellow) pillows. Spiderwebs in the room: I woke up with a rash in my face!...

The Team is really nice and the location too (near the beaches). However, the Hostel was not really clean, including dorms and bathroom. The breakfast was really poor. All makes it not really cheap. I will not recommend it.

Overall we enjoyed this place since the costs were so bad and one of the staff in particular (Nacho) was great. But when we checked out we were a bit soured when we were all suited up with our backpacks and the girl at the desk asked us to bring down our bedsheets (never have we stayed in hostels that...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are two friends who met in Ireland in 2006. After travelling and working around we came back to Uruguay convinced that the best way to continue with our trip, getting to meet people from all around the world and new life stories would be by having our own hostel. That´s why we opened Pocitos Hostel in December 2008. Our staff has been carefully selected; they are all very good friends of ours and even though they are young people (between 18 and 23) they surely are the best staff you’ll ever meet and for sure will never forget. The hostel is in the heart of ‘Pocitos’, the best neighborhood in which to stay in Montevideo. The house is unique and was built in the 1930´s by Bello & Reborati . It has big, light dorms and common areas. Pocitos Hostel is an "all year-round hostel". Here, when days are cold you can enjoy listening to music, reading a good book from our library, having a drink, playing board games or just sharing a moment next to our fireplace! Then, when the days are nice you can enjoy our backyard! Get a nice tan before going to Pocitos beach (2 min. walk) or just lie down on a hammock or an outdoor chair and forget about the world. Last but not least you cannot miss our "asado" nights with all the hostel staff and guests. Our beautiful house, the opportunities at the hostel, the neighborhood and our great service will make of your visit to Montevideo, a special stay. We are proud and happy to say (as some backpackers said) that Pocitos Hostel is ‘a home away from home’. ... more   less
