We liked the Hotel for the History related to this building. The Hotel is really big, with long corridors and so many rooms. It has a particular charm. The personnal is correct. The doorman is really nice. The rooms are big, but they are not...More
Truly a Grande Dame ! and not so dowdy, either . I didn't find this hotel to be nearly as worn and frayed as some other reviews have said. I thought it had a charm that's hard to find anymore with all of the "McLuxury"...More
Gran Hotel Bolivar is a charming hotel. Location is near central square. Has lots of good restaurants and shopping nearby. Facilities has seen better days, and is probably due for an overhaul renovation. Nevertheless, it is basic and clean. Staff are decent.
The Hotel Grand Bolivar was charming. While a bit frayed around the edges now, it's easy to see how glorious it must have been in the 30's. The staff was nice, the water was hot and the bar had some of the BEST pisco sours...More

As long as you settle your bill early in the day I think it is fine. There is always someone at the front desk though you may have to bang on the bell to get someone's attention. I arrived early for my room 10 AM. They made me wait until 2 PM before giving me a room, which was of very low quality. It faced the center ventilator courtyard that made a loud motorized noise. They did not give a higher quality room until 5 PM facing the streets, which had incredibly loud street noise. Even my trusty earplugs could not muffle the noise.

"Choose an inside room as the streets around are quite loud, even late at night."
