This is much nicer then some other motels in the area that are similar price. Breakfasts and a pool and nice private rooms are provided. Would stay here again. Convenient location near shops and tour companies .
The good thing is the location. The rooms are clean and with good size but a bit outdated. Breakfast is nice. Bug drow back the lack of touristic information provided by the staff and the hotel. When asked about tours receptionist send us to plaza de armas. In most hotels I stayed in Peru there is always some kinda information you can find in the hotel. Overall it's a good place to stay in.
We needed a brief stop in Iquitos and chose Dorado for its price and 3 stars. The positives are the room was neat, clean and staff friendly. The negatives are we felt like we were in a dark box and an odour in the room, so much so that we reluctantly had to leave the room door ajar for fresh air and extra light. The “window” was a frosted, dirty, fixed pane of glass which allowed no light and aesthetically better to leave it covered. We enquired as to whether there was a room with an opening window but no luck. Also no safe for passports etc. Honestly we went to the Hilton one block away and spent the day there for lunch, coffee and drinks and looked around Iquitos so we got what we paid for and only brief.
We stayed in this hotel for one night after 4 days excursion in the Jungle. So, we wanted just a bed and calm time to relax. However, to our surprise, around 10 pm, we started to hear very loud music coming from a club. We kept calm, after two house the music was louder and louder, We went for reception to complains, they told us that there is night club next to the hotel and they can do nothing. The music stopped at 04:00 am, so we slept finally for two hours and thankfully we left. Avoid this hotel if you are in Iquitos.
Iquitos Double Tree Hotel now after refurberishing. Right on Mayor Square and one block from Amazon. Great location and location. Never here before when people gave it bad reviews, but nothing b a d today. It does look on shabby side from outside but welcome to Iquitos and it's history back to the rubber barons.
