Two blocks away from the main plaza in the hearth of the ancient district of San Blas. Colonial-style house with gardens and the best views of the city. Friendly and professional staff, confortable rooms and yummy included breakfast.

When we first arrived we were warmly received by the receptionist. At the time I was traveling with a companion and we got a pretty spacious room. It had a very nice view of the city roofs and mountains surrounding it. The water from the shower was blissfully warm, which is a

Was very impressed with the hospitality, friendliness, cleanliness, location, breakfast, honesty and integrity of all the staff at this hotel. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us to the point of sleeping on the couch in reception so they would be there for our 4am

My husband and I were really pleased with our two-part stay at Amaru. We booked in for three nights before a 4 day trek to Machu Picchu and then returned to Amaru for 2 more nights. We had a great view of the city from our second floor room, which was handy for fireworks

Yes taxis stop at the front door although the lane is very narrow. The problem you may have is that although the hotel is pretty central it is half way up a fairly steep lane. The altitude is such is such that even fairly fit people tend to puff quite a bit when walking back to the hotel although it's only steep for less than a hundred yards. When down the hill it's about 10 minutes,or less, walk on the flat to the central square

You might be able to get into your room early, but more likely you can/will leave your baggage in a secure area at your hotel. Then go enjoy an early morning.

The travel agent for our group of 14 had arranged for pickup at airport by the hotel. Transfer to airport on departure was done through hotel staff. There were a large number of taxis available at the airport. E-mailing the hostal for recommendations or suggestions is a good idea; they may be able to arrange transfer for you. If you get a cab at the airport, arranging the fare in advance is a good idea.
