My husband and I just returned from our second stay at the Kookaburra and still have nothing but good things to say about it. The location is perfect since ti is within a few blocks of the Calderon Plaza and is in the heart of the historic district. The accommodations are perfect - comfortable bed, a large bathroom with modern...

If I return to Cuenca, this will be where I will stay. The Bluefileds are an accomodating couple that made us feel right at home. When we walked in the door, they were expecting us and knew who we were. Their friendly welcome was a great way to start our time in the city. The accomodations were marvelous, the best...

Stayed 2 nights at kookaburra cafe and loved it. First, before I talk about accomodations, I have to say that Jenny and Chris are without a doubt 2 of the nicest people you will ever meet! The bonus is that the accommodations, location, and breakfast are top notch. The 2 rooms sit in back of a central courtyard so although the street...

We stayed for a week, both upstairs and downstairs. It was sooo much nicer than a hotel room. The beds are comfortable, linens are top quality. The rooms are incredibly quiet even though the cafe is on a busy street. The cafe meals are delicious, from the included breakfast to our daily brownie or apple pie or cheesecake, all home...

We stayed for a little over a week at this lovely home away from home and the room was absolutely spotless. The owners, Chris and Jenny obviously put a lot of thought into the design of the rooms as there were so many well appointed touches from the spacious bathroom with never ending hot water ( a real find in...

This is a great little place to stay. The cafe on Calle Larga and has a couple of rooms for accommodation. The place is new and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Despite Calle Larga being a busy street, the rooms off the internal courtyard are very quiet. The host, Jenny and Chris, are friendly and helpful, and serve a...

We spent 4 nights at the Kookaburra. It is clean, safe, & effficient, with plenty of hot water and privacy ... and that was just our suite. Our room was on the ground floor, w/ twin beds, a table and chairs, settee, microwave, refrig., private bath and a heater if you need it. The bedding is comfortable. (We would have...

My husband and I just returned from a two week stay at the Kookaburra and loved every minute of it. You can not find a more tranquil and soothing place to stay that will refresh your spirit after a day of sightseeing in the city. As other reviewers have noted, Jenny and Chris will make you feel like you are...

I spent a lovely few days relaxing in Cuenca and I stayed in the Kookaburra's downstairs suite/room, just off of a small courtyard at the back of the cafe. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious and very quiet and the bed was comfortable albeit a little on the narrow side. I have to admit I did not sleep that well...

“The one bedroom apartment is lovely if you are staying a while. Great kitchen facility and living room. But the back suites are quieter if you plan to stay only a couple of days. If you have a family or group, you can take over the entire facility and have access to all kinds of amenities.”
