I had room #12, a single on the second floor. It was large, clean, and comfortable. Quito has an odd climate (in Nov/Dec), warm during the day (not really hot), and cool at night. I did not need air-conditioning at all and in fact - I don't think the room had it. I had a double sized bed, a private...

Most important: our dog was no problem! Good value for money, tasty breakfast, clean rooms and bathrooms, nice common areas with TV, good internet. Two secure parking places. Coffee and tea all day long. Location is pretty central, but still relativly quiet. Nigtlife area with pubs and restaurants a few minutes walk away. We could use the kitchen to cook...

Hostal Alcalá was a great option during my visit to Quito. Well located, good basic facilities, clean, friendly staff and great breakfast. It was definitely a great option. Free internet access and staff was able to help us organize a great tour with a guide within a few hours.

I needed a cheap place to stay for one night and this was perfect. $20 for a double bed and private bathroom in the very center of Quito. Owner gave all the necessary information at check in, I was left with no questions. Very hot shower and strong wifi connection. Perfect!

If you want low end, budget accommodations, this is probably the place at $20 a night. Jorge, while initially abrupt, warmed up and was kind enough to put the kettle on for me. We spoke in Spanish, so I am not sure whether he speaks English. The public areas are nice and cheerful but my room was dumpy - moldy...

My husband and I stayed several days in July when we entered and departed Quito. The entire staff and the owners are like family. My husband was very ill when we reached Quito. Monic the owner, Jorge the manager, and Tanya the HK were very helpful. After the knee surgery in Loja, my husband needed much help to climb the...

My husband and I stayed for one night at hostal alcala. We were in room 12 which is on the upper floor and is nice - has a patio area in front of it, and the room gets good natural light (I hate staying in dark rooms). The room is basic but has everything you need including wifi and TV....

I had a nice stay and they were very accommodating. Jorge was great but does not understand English and therefore I could not make another reservation the second time I wanted to stay.
