Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Top floor corner rooms are obviously the best for panoramic views. Their hotel restaurant is a splendid place for lunch or dinner! Hotel Rio Amazonas is a stone's throw away from the night life like bars and restaurants as well as shops and banks. Enjoyed our stay here!

We travelled with Exoticca. The travel company dropped the ball but this hotel was great. They have different rooms in different levels of revitalization but all were comfortable, all had good views, the breakfast was sufficient. Water and tea in the lobby but you bring your own vessel. 99% of the tv is in spanish but there are many options. We arrived the first night at 2am and we still were given all of the important information to make our next day a success. Location is great. Hot water is plentiful. Some rooms have been updated and others have not yet but they're all accessible and comfortable. Staff is kind and accommodating.

Had a pleasant stay at this hotel as part of a tour group. Good location, had a nice view, there was a cute little lounge area, good breakfast spread and our one dinner there was decent. Some not so good things: Slowest elevators ever, it got a little loud since we were in a bar part of town but you had to keep the windows open for some air, weak bathroom flush and loose outlets so you had to make sure you were actually charging. But overall we liked it.

We spent 3 nights here on our tour of Ecuador. The bed was comfy and large and the buffet breakfasts included in our tour were good and varied. The first night, a Saturday night, it was noisy with the music outside. The 2 other nights our bedroom was in the back and it was quick. One morning we were locked outside our bedroom and it took them 45 minutes before they could open the door. In general this hotel was ok, the wifi good, in the new part of Quito.

We stayed three nights at this hotel on a tour . The front desk and doorman were friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean the rooms were quite nice , but the neighborhood is loud ,with loud music into the late hours , like 2-3 am . The breakfast room is very nice and there were enough choices for a nice breakfast. We went to the bar one evening and waited 10 minutes before someone arrived to tell us the bar was closed because the bartender did not come to work. We didn’t want a mixed drink we wanted a glass of wine ..anyone can open a bottles of wine ? We asked what if someone wanted a glass of wine with dinner in the dining room , he then realized that the servers do serve wine . So the server came from the dining room and told us we could not have a glass of wine ,they only serve wine by the bottle in the bar ? We just gave up and left the bar . We went out to dinner one evening looking for a particular Italian restaurant . After a few blocks we didn’t feel safe anymore . Luckily two motorcycle officers were overlooking a dispute and we asked how to get to the restaurant , we were turned around . It happens so fast. The officers gave us directions and we started walking . But walking 30 feet ,the two motorcycle officers pulled up and told us to get on the back and the drove us to the restaurant. That was amazing but they told us the area was very dangerous . The restaurant had armed security guards outside front door. Going back to the hotel it was plenty sketchy ! We went on a private tour with a driver for a day and when we returned , he told not to go out in the evening around our hotel .We went to a bakery about two blocks from the hotel , there was 4 of us . We were approached by a very mentally unstable person , who harassed verbally and scary body language making demands. Luckily we arrived at the the hotel the doorman was able to tell this person to leave. If this hotel was in a better location it may work , but in its current location, I would not book here .

Hotel situated with lots of food places around it. Easy to get to the old town. Staff helpfully and hotel clean. No air conditioning but will give you a fan if you ask. Food OK as was breakfast . It felt quiet safe. Rooms were quiet big and ours viewed over the town

The lobby and rooms are clean and pretty well maintained but don’t let a tour company put you here. There is no heat/air in the rooms. Service staff is cold and indifferent. Services are slow when actually provided. They insisted on delivering our bags to the room, took 45 minutes. Waited 45 minutes for a drink in the lounge that never arrived. Impossible get a simple answer from hotel staff, ie places to eat, laundry, convenience shops much less any tourist info. At one point waited 2 hours for a simple question that was never answer. When you leave the hotel, you are literally a one minute walk from being molested or mugged by street thugs and con artists.

Average for this class hotel - nothing special. Rooms small and some room layouts not easy to move around in or get out of bed as there is little space. Average buffet breakfast and restaurant. Do not recommend eating here as there are many nice places close by. Location is decent and housekeeping is below par in stairwell. I like to take the stairs and use the hand rail for safety and my hand was so full of dirt when I got to the lobby I had to wash my hands! I showed the staff and then took the stairwell again the next day = no improvement.

Very pleasant hotel, friendly staff and a short taxi ride into Quito old town. Ours was a short stay during a tour of Equador, the king size bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was adequate although the dining room would benefit from a bit of a makeover. The staff were very helpful and quickly changed our room when we asked for a higher one. There is some city noise at night.

This hotel looks good in pictures but in reality it lacks a lot and it's mediocre at best. Let's start with the room temperature. There is no thermostat in the rooms. Whatever temperature you get is what you get. The maintenance man told us to open the window if it was too hot. We also had one of the best rooms in the building with a full panoramic window but the room didn't have a mini fridge. The full breakfast was also mediocre. The service was also very poor. I asked the reception early in the morning for a portable heater for the room and left to do sightseeing. When I came back in the afternoon, nothing. Reminded them again. When I came back at night, I was told they were all taken. The safe was also giving me problems and the maintenance man takes a long time to come. I had to call reception several times to get the service. The good points are location and price, but there are much better hotels. I won't stay here again
