We poked our heads into this hostal looking for a new place in Quito and Alicia, the owner, was immediately personable and welcoming. We ended up staying here three different times, in three different rooms. The rooms were simple but colorful and clean (some louder than others in the afternoon, but nothing too bad), and the location was great. A...

Exceptional value given the position within 2 blocks of the main square. Being right in the middle of everything does mean that rooms on the main street are quite noisy which would be a problem for light sleepers, but they do have side rooms which should be much quieter. Internally there is little or no disturbance from other guests as...

I was a little unsure about staying in old town but this turned out to be a great location. This hotel is in the middle of everything, with a pedestrian only street leading directly to the Plaza Grande. We walked easily to the Voto Basilica to climb the clock towers. We spent a few days wandering around old town, even...

Great hostel, very friendly attendants. The only drawback were cold and rainy Quito nights, but the extra blanket in the room kept us warm. Some nights got pretty rowdy on the street so I would recommend bringing ear plugs.

Hostal is in a great location so close to all the sites of the old town. The staff are super friendly and very helpful - they make you feel like part of the family. It is very clean with comfortable bed, good linen and hot water for showers. I had a room at the front and therefore could hear the...

We we were very happy with our stay at Hostal Quito Cultural. My husband and I were in Quito for several days with our 9 year old daughter. They were wonderfully hospitable and even took us on a walk around the centro after dark after we arrived. We wouldn't have done that ourselves due to safety concerns - but I'm...

We love this place. Stayed with my husband and three kids, ages 16,13 and 9.Location perfect, able to walk all over Quito. Room was large, and very clean. That's right 5 beds in one room and still very comfortable. Had a great view of the Basilica, the "Virgin of Quito" and surrounding hills. Alicia and her family are very friendly...

Near the main plaza in the centro historico, the rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. The owner Alicia is delightful and helpful. Rooms facing the street might be a problem for the noise-sensitive. Good valus.

Stayed for 2 nights in this nice place located very central in the old town. Staff very friendly and helpfull, and rooms nice and clean. Place is very fine to the price and you just need a place to stay. Left early both days - so can't comment on the breakfast which is included.

I highly recommend this place. Angel is great! Will help you select the best places to visit in Quito and outside of Quito! And it's really cheap, despite the great historical ambiance!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hostal Quito Cultural born of a XVIII century building at the hands of a French architect, this house currently consists as a heritage of Barrio San Marcos the oldest in Quito. With a rich pre-Columbian history, the capital of Ecuador was founded on the ruins of an Inca city, but offers everything a modern traveler may need. Still one of the best preserved historical sites in Latin America and the UNESCO declared world heritage. The location of the hostel is convenient because it allows travelers to move around the old Quito and know all the baroque jewels, like the monasteries of San Francisco and Santo Domingo, as well as the church and the college of the Company. The hostel rooms have all the amenities to make guests feel comfortable and can enjoy their holiday as they deserve, our main seal of the fraternity is offered by our staff. ... more   less
