Just arrived back to Toronto from Quito and stayed at Hostal Marsella instead of where I usually stay in Quito. I got my own room for around 30$ usd which seems to be the standard rate with my own bathroom and TV. It is in Alameda neighbourhood which is close to old town and close to La Zona. Above all,...

Great and cheap place to stay in Quito. The owner are super nice! We arrived much earlier then check in (6 am) and he gave us a room and we paid only one night. And they opened the kitchen just for us in the night time because we were hungry. How awesome is that?! :)) + nice rooms with cosy...

I am an older American, 63, who has enjoyed lots of time in South America over the past thirty years. I first came to Hostel Marsella in 1998 when I was studying Spanish for two months, snowboarding on Cotopaxi, and traveling with friends to Colombia. Last year I spent several weeks at Marsella and again this year, both times refreshing...

The room was okay, as expected for the price. What made me leave was the noise. Most rooms have windows into the lobby and the owners/workers aren't very conscious of the noise they make at early hours - music, babies, dogs... I was awakened several times during my stay. I would have enjoyed a more friendly staff, also. You can...

Hostal Marsella was perfect for me because it offered me exactly what I needed: a very nice and clean place where I could get a private room for little money in a very good location. The rooms are really nice, most of them seem like they have been renovated lately, the bathrooms as well as other areas were always clean,...

We arrived at 5am where we agreed a $10 fee for 5hrs (check-out 10am). In the morning at 10am he grouped up on my girlfriend and I and forced us to pay $18, he denied agreeing to $10. I don't like to complain but that is not acceptable behaviour, especially from the owner and then to group up on my...

After checking in first night from not being able to make it to Banos(due to avalanches blocking off traffic to banos) we decided to go on the following day to Papallacta, on the owners recommendation. When we got to the bus terminal we were told traffic to Papallacta was being blocked so once again we decided to embark to Banos....

Good location. Good breakfast. Clean rooms and bathrooms, wifi is ok, staff are friendly. Looked like they were renovating the place. Happy to stay again. The staff also gave some good recommendations for local and cheap food in the neighborhood which turned out well.

I got a good value private room here which also had a bathroom for $15. The room itself was on the very top floor facing the courtyard. The courtyard outside could be very loud and I imagine some people would struggle to sleep with the noise. I didn't like how when I was trying to check out the lady in...
