I stayed here with my daughter while riding horses for several days around the crater. The hostel/ hotel was friendly, clean and the food was very good. It's really the best option for the area. I highly recommend staying here.

Overall, this was a great overnight trip from Quito. Renalto and his family were wonderful, and the food at the hostel is pretty good and reasonably priced. The rooms were roomy, and the bathrooms were decent- the water pressure and the temperature of the water was spot-on. Common areas were great, and the scenery was unbelievable. 4 out 5 because... Great experience for our family! We needed a restful time and the beautiful views were amazing. I enjoy biking so was also able to get in some mountain biking by climbing out of the crater. Victor was an excellent support and guide on the horseback riding adventure that my wife, daughter and niece went on. Carmen was an excellent chef,... More

I liked very much, because you can sleep inside a volcano. It is a unique experience!!! It is very peaceful and you can relax. And, if you like to walk, it is the best place to go, because there are several routes!!!

The Pululahua crater is an amazing place to stay and this hostal is perfect for exploring it. The rooms are comfortable and the food is freshly prepared, very nice and plentiful. The first morning we were stunned how quiet it was, the only sound to be heard was the birds singing. The grounds, especially the garden, are amazing with hummingbirds... More

We stayed two nights in one of the heated rooms with private bath. Very large room with a wood burning stove, overlooks the garden and crater. Lots of birding and hiking options. The best Wifi connection in Ecuador! We did not go horseback riding, but it looked like a great way to explore the crater, and the horses and tack... More

We booked the Pululahua Hostal because we were looking for a reasonably-priced quiet getaway close to Quito. The owner, Renato, picked us up at the airport and drove us out to the hostal, at the bottom of a volcano crater near Mitad del Mundo. The hostal is located near the base of the hiking path down, but the road enters... More

We had been to the eastern slope of the Andes in Ecuador & now wanted to go to the western slope. I found Pululahua Hostal on the web & contacted Renato for information. He responded quickly & helpfully & that, along with what I had read on the web, convinced me he was our man; so I told him we... More

Although Pululauhua is close to Quito, it's like being in a different world. We had booked a 3-night package, and Renato (our host) picked us up at our Quito hotel for the drive to the crater (with a stop at Mitad del Mundo along the way). He gave us the choice to drive with him the entire way, or hike... More

Time alone to think, write, walk, and ride horses, all my favorite activities. A woman traveling alone in Ecuador...many think I am out of my mind, but secretly may, wish they were doing the same. I am on a sojourn of sorts and how I ended up in Pululahua Crater has much to do with the draw of horses, the... More
