This is a very old house which was in a great location overlooking the harbor. The room was plain but clean. There was a private bathroom across the hallway. It was quiet enough to sleep. The breakfast was simple but ok. The price was reasonable.

The Good: - Our room was large and had a beautiful view of the port. - The entire place was very clean. - Comfortable beds. - The owners are very helpful. - Breakfast was simple but tasty (rolls and bread, butter, jams and manjar, fresh fruit, yogurt and a fresh smoothie) - Nice common areas (indoor and outdoors) for reading... Friendly and helpful owners, good breakfast (the usual bread and yoghurt but also juice and lots of fruit), nice views from the balcony, bright rooms. We had a twin with bathroom outside and it was perfectly fine. One downside is that the ascensor is out of service, and has been since September. It's an ok walk up and down a... More

In an ordinary district above the docks and boasting a great view. A homely feel and an ok breakfast . The docks go most of the night so if you sleep light don't take a view room, the hosts are cooperative and welcoming however we did not feel it lived up to the glowing reviews.

My husband son and I had two fabulous nights at casa hostal 199. It is an extremely well run B and B and Alejandro is relaxed and welcoming. I loved the location and the amazing views. The rooms were exceptionally clean and the whole hostel is charmingly furnished. It was wonderful to sit on the balcony in the evening with... More

Tripadvisor ranking this B&B #25 is Ridiculous and WRONG! It was recently (3 years ago) listed #1..and it still is! Nothing has changed. It was the best B&B we stayed in in three months in South America, and one of the best I have ever stayed in, and I have been to over 70 countries! Before staying, we expected to have... More

The place was clean, nice, calm, relatively well located. The owner was kind, served us the breakfast in person (and it was a great breakfast), and get us a transportation to Santiago's airport. The view is amazing. We just think wi-fi signal was a little weak at 2nd floor.

The most important advantage of this place was the people who run it. They make one feel at home, very welcoming and caring. Cleanliness were superb and the sheets were fresh. The hostel is situated in a very convenient location on a hill overlooking the port. The view is fabulous. There's a downside in that as the port produces much... More

We stayed in the Casa for 3 nights. The Casa is in an excellent location, near enough to everything whilst being in a peaceful area with amazing views of the port and the Valparaiso coast line. It is also at the end of the main turn around point for pretty much all public transport, which means it is really easy... More

Stayed here for 2 nights after an extenuous 15-day 4-wheel driving trip through Argentinean & Chilean Patagonia (just before crossing the Andes again to go back home). If you are driving on your own, be sure you ask for directions before attempting to find the "cerro" by yourself, jaja! Once you get to the house, you can forget about the... More

“I traveled there in May, that's late autumn in the Southern Hemisphere, and the morning was rather fresh if not to say chilly. It is might be wiser to sacrifice a nice view from the window and ask a landside-looking room which is protected from the cool winds. I was content anyway.”
