Stayed a few nights here & enjoyed it. Great location, close to touristy stuff & metro line stop. Lots of things going on at hostel so good if travelling on your own. The hostel in an old house so has creaky floorboards but nice big rooms & massive bathrooms! Downside was that no hot water in kitchen so utensils were... More

This hostel is incredible! Very chilled out and relaxing vibe with some of the best guests and staff I have come across on my trip through South America! One of the staff members, Marion , even made us an amazing sandwich for dinner completely out of the kindness of her heart! Location is great and beds are comfy! I highly... More

Let me preface this review with a very important fact.. I can count the amount of reviews I have written on one hand(as you can see, this is my first on TripAdvisor) Whether that is due to laziness or those places/services didn't deserve a review, we may never know. Now, to the topic at hand... Castillo Surfista (for me) is... More

We stayed in this hostel twice, on our way into Chile and then before leaving. The dorms, bathrooms and common areas are spacious, clean and always hot water, plus for the price you get a decent breakfast of waffles, fruit etc. The hostel is right near the metro in a safe neighbourhood, which was good for us as 2 girls... This is the best hostel I've been to in South America. It's clean, with a large kitchen and social dining room. It's not a party hostel like those in Bellavista, but the staff (Chloe and Irene) are fun, organizing asados (BBQs) and other communal dinners. Great breakfast (waffles are a nice change from stale bread). Highly recommended.

I stayed twice in this hostel, when I first arrived in Santiago and now that I ended my trip. I decided to stay here at first because it was a small hostel -which usually are my top choice to stay at as it is easier to meet other travellers and feels less crowded while using the amenities. There were several... More

The staff here were extremely welcoming, thoroughly willing to provide every want or need, especially Sarah (not her real name) and Bob (that's what the locals call him). There is an excellent dog called Duke (his real name) and the atmosphere here is fantastic, a social event every evening. We stayed here whilst looking for a place to live and... More

It has been a great time at castillo surfista santiago. Stayed there a couple of days at the beginning of our surftrip down the coast of chile. Met some nice guys there. The dorm is not that big but its okay. Duke is a lovely dog, but sadly the garden is to small for him.

We had a good stay at Castillo Surfista Hostel. It has nice rooms, ok breakfast, great wifi and is very reasonably priced. It is situated in a great location and is away from the noise of the city. The hostal was fairly quiet at night providing a good nights sleep. Only downside was as the building is quite old the... More

We booked to stay at Castillo Surfista for 5 nights and quickly extended for another 2 on arrival because we liked it so much. All the rooms are nice but the doubles are epic, they are furnished like a great bedroom back home and are huge! The owner is a really nice, laid back guy and all the hostel volunteers... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
WINNER OF THE HOSTELBOOKERS 2013 EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR CLEANEST HOSTEL IN SOUTH AMERICA. Come experience a boutique-style fusion of CALIFORNIA SURFER and KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE, nestled within a large 100 year old house in one of Santiago's most unique and safest neighborhoods. My name is Jonathan, a lifelong traveler and California surfer. This hostel is new, a place I created for backpackers, students, ocean lovers, and gonzo spirit soul surfers. I decided not to cram the rooms with beds so you and intimate groups of new friends can stretch out and have the entire house to yourselves, complete with a large kitchen, patio with BBQ, garden, LED TV room, dining room and computer room. Party all night long or take a moment to relax alone. It's all possible here. We are strategically located in the heart of Santiago, in an area of great historical, cultural and natural value. This exclusive area is very close to the typical places of the city: Parque Bustamante, Plaza Italia, San Cristóbal Hill, Barrio Bellavista, Rio Mapocho, Parque Forestal, a large supermarket, laundromats, restaurants and more. ... more   less
