Stayed for only one night and that was enough. We arrived and were met by the most unfriendly and rude staff member. She simply did not want to be there and made us feel unwelcome the whole time. Very unhelpful when we asked about the wifi not working and she replied 'yea that happens'...meaning it didn't work the entire time... More

I can't recommend this hostel. I must state that I never stayed at Ecohostel but communicated with the staff only. I had been searching for a hostel to stay at for 1 week as I settle in for an international program that I'm participating in and I found Ecohostel to have reasonable prices with decent reviews. I first found the... More

This hostel had very clean bathrooms and excellent jam at breakfast. And that is the end of the positive notes... Very thin/nonexistent walls makes noise an issue. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. And the energy of the whole place was very low, but that could change as the guests turn over.... If you're looking for a good place in Santiago,... More

We enjoyed our stay at this hostel. Great serve yourself breakfast! Used kitchen to cook dinner and save money. Near big supermarket. Computer in reception to use. Wifi good though a shame it didn't reach the room. We used the facilities after we checked out while we waited for a night bus. I would just recommend that they try to... More

Stayed here for three nights in a great double upstairs. Large room with a small balcony. Staff were friendly and happy to help. You are provided a great breakfast each day (including biscuits!) Has a nice outdoor area and a recycling system. It is an old building and the floorboards make a lot of noise. It didn't bother us but... More

The Ecohostel at first time could appear not that good, as I could read in some opinions. When I arrived, later at night, I didn't like the appearance of the hostel. But I was tired and get to my bed after a shower. The next morning, I could see with a different perspective and get a totally different opinion. The... More

We stayed here at the end of a tour through South america. Before we arrived in santiago, we tried to book some extra nights at the hostel but they didn't have enough room for us. We therefore also booked elsewhere for a couple of nights. When we got there, we couldn't be more pleased that we could leave and go... More

This was one of our favourite places to stay in Santiago. Decent location, generous breakfasts and comfy (private) rooms (upstairs). So we returned. We had accidentally left some stuff behind on our previous visit and asked the blonde girl at reception (3 times) if anything was found. I eventually asked the cleaner myself and got our stuff back but they... More

Don't believe those half decent reviews - usually coming from high unrealistic western standards. The place is comfortable and location very strategic to most things. I mean, yes you have to walk to stations and everything else but that's what being on budget is all about. You can't have the best location without walking by paying next to nothing which... More

Positives: The staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Negatives: We had a private room but both private rooms are right next to the two outdoor seating areas, making it a bit noisy. Showers not great either, neither is the breakfast.

“The privates upstairs are great, the front room even has a balcony. The dorm downstairs is a little dark and right off the main room, but I didn't have a problem with noise while I was there since most people seem to hang out in the courtyards rather than inside.”
