We stayed for three nights at the hotel on our trip south. Our room was very good but, in general, the hotel is in need of repairs. Also, while we were staying there, there were not many other guests. The front desk staff were very helpful and provided good recommendations for dinner and a boat cruise. The breakfast was very good with a large assortment of foods. We didn't use the pool but we did see others using it. The grounds are nice and it is definitely worth a walk out to the dock. The location is a little way from the restaurants but we walked to restaurants in about 10 minutes.
After a bad experience at another hotel in town, this hotel provided much needed good customer service. Everyone was friendly and the hotel grounds are just beautiful. I spent a lot of time in the hotel walking and enjoying the grounds. It is close to good restaurants in town and to the downtown but it’s also easy to take an uber if you don’t feel like walking. It is very close to a famous brewery. It is a bit old but very clean and tidy.
The strange thing is that this hotel ‘nestles’ between shipyards...... but in fact you don’t notice that! The position is actually excellent with an amazing view of the river and city. There is obviously a sculling club nearby and you can watch the boats hurtling up and down the river, especially first thing in the morning ..and at night the city lights up and reflects on the water....it’s amazing. If I had a criticism it would be that the staff on the desk when we arrived were really very supercilious......an indication that they were operating out of their ability.....and that they completely lacked training. Aside from that, rest of the staff were really quite good.....the rooms were spacious and clean, bathrooms good, beds comfortable and breakfasts quite adequate In the Chilean sense of the word. It is an old fashioned sort of place, but better for it I would say.....it’s quite a way from town, so you need a car or taxi...but better for that too. All in all, whilst not inexpensive, I thought it was good value and would return. …
We stayed here for four nights late November early December. The hotel is in a lovely setting, looking out on to the river at the back. Most of the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The first room we were assigned had problems; a poorly functioning toilet, water on the bathroom floor. And then a major water leak which soaked the carpet. We were moved to a bigger, nicer room. The staff were OK.The breakfast was good. There were a number of decent restaurants within a ten minute walk.We liked El Growler. The famous market is about a twenty minute walk away, and it is better to walk than drive and try to park,a nightmare. The grounds are really nice and there is a nice path down to the river. The pool was empty and grungy looking whilst we were there.
This a luxury hotel in Valdivia. Rooms are spacious with great view. Back from the main road. The location is 2 km from the city center (for good or bad). Thogh they provide a choice of pillows, the bed was quite hard and not so comfortable. Also opening the window in the evening fills the rooms with mosquitos and other insecrs as there are no meshes. Most of the staff does not speak English
