Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We enjoyed staying here. It's a great location from which to explore this end of the lake district. The lodges are rustic, a bit rough and ready (the outside table and chairs for example were completely rusted and unusable), but comfortable, and there is a pellet burning stove which makes it quite cosy. There are animals on site too, which was a lovely novelty. Javiera was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. It had said on the website that they could provide a vegetarian dinner, but it turned out they couldn't so we were given a few suggestions for dinner in town, which was fine. We had breakfast one morning which was good, but it turned out to be pretty expensive by Chilean standards, so we didn't have it the other day. Definitely a nice experience and a change from the standard hotels.

We stayed at Bordemundo last year, and it was wonderful! We loved the cabin we were in, the wood fired stove, the breakfasts, the animals, the lake, volcano views, the location and Javiera. We hope to return to Patagonia, and will make sure we return to Bordemundo for a repeat!

Javiera is the most wonderful host. She took great care of us, especially my young son. The breakfasts are good, simple and fresh. The view of Osorno from the cabin I was in was amazing. The farm you're staying on is very fun, you can feed and pet chickens/peacocks/sheep/donkeys. The beach! The water is so clear and you have it all to yourself. We saw tons of people at the public beaches and were so happy to have our own slice of paradise. Would definitely come back!

Stayed 3 nights in Arrayan cabin. Views of the volcano are stunning from the bedroom window. Wood stove excellent for cool mornings. The beach is wonderful (lake water is cold!). The drinking water is good, which is unusual for the area (we had to take our own drinking water for all other rural cabin rentals anywhere in the area). We had simply eggs and bread most mornings, did not have the full breakfast. WiFi was sometimes great, sometimes didn’t work at all in strong winds. Getting there was really not a problem. We took an airport shuttle from Puerto Montt to Bordemundo for 15000 CLP (about $20 US). We took the local bus to/from town a couple of times. We also got the business card from a local taxi driver, and would just send him a WhatsApp message to arrange a ride, which worked out great. He also took us to PM ferry for CLP 20,000. Javiera was super helpful - she speaks fluent English and was able to help us arrange a rental car in town, when our reservation in Puerto Montt fell apart. She also had many other helpful suggestions. Best for people who appreciate a quiet setting and don’t mind being outside town.

We stayed at Bordemundo for three nights in January and wish it could have been longer. It is such a beautiful place with spectacular views of the volcanoes, a trail right down to a lovely beach front, and such cozy cabins. My kids, 3 and 6, were so happy running around the property and seeing the animals. Javiera is so kind, helpful and responsive and gave us a tour of her animals and gardens. She came by to make us a fire in the wood stove in our cabin and brought us the most delicious breakfasts in the morning (with very generous portions). Our stay here was part of a two week trip in Chile and Argentina, and our days at Bordemundo -- so relaxing and peaceful -- stand out as our highlight. We recommend renting a car to see some of the incredible sights in the area.

We had a wonderful two-night stay at Bordemundo with Javiera. She's such a warm and welcoming host who pays attention to all the details. The cabana was well appointed with nice with views of the lake. There's a very nice private beach which is great for taking in the sunset. Our family enjoyed touring the property and meeting the animals with Javiera and her daughter. We even got to pick the fresh eggs for our breakfast. Highly recommend.

Bordemundo is AMAZING!! Chilean hospitality is awesome and Javiera is a wonderful example of it! When you pull onto the property you are greeted by chickens, turkeys, guineas, peacocks, sheep, and a donkey! The cabins are super clean and so comfy with a wood fireplace and lots of wool blankets and pillows (made by Javiera) to keep you warm! The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and there are also spices so you don’t have to worry about buying those! Javiera also delivers a basket of homemade bread and fresh eggs each day for you to enjoy for your breakfast! Her property is on the lake so you can walk down to the beach and enjoy the shore to yourself (with Volcano views!) to splash around or watch the sunset! The property is just a few minutes drive from Puerto Varas and also the perfect location to start from to go explore the area’s volcanoes, take a drive along the lake, or shop the markets in Puerto Montt! As a bonus...the WiFi is EXCELLENT (it was recently upgraded to fiber)....it’s the best we found in all of Chile! Javiera speaks wonderful English (along with other languages) and is happy to help with trip planning details! If you are wondering if you should stay here, the answer is YES! (Also...make sure you get a tour of the gardens!)
