We booked this place through a friend. Upon arrival the place was closed, and there was(what it seemed to be) a friend of the owners, who were on holidays. No wifi, no heating (the owners decided to turn the boiler off because we were the only ones!! It was late so we decided to give it chance anyway, bad decision.. night was really really cold. Since there was no one around, it seems that the owners decided to leave the dogs looking after the property, barking non-stop. For breakfast, they left us (literally) FROZEN cheese and ham in a fridge in common area, and an industrial-size toaster. On the top of it, there was no hot water, so no shower. Our booking was for 3 nights but we decided to leave because the person in charge (who was not in the property at that time) didn't know how to fix the hot water problem. To my surprise, the owners charged us the 3 nights. After complaining several times for the 2 extra nights (although a horrible experience, we did spend the first night there), they came back to me arguing that you just left with no explanation... There was no one there... and NOT SURE WHAT ELSE DID THEY EXPECT US TO DO, with no heating, no hot water and a frozen breakfast. It's been 5 months already and still haven't seen my money back. I told the owners that I would respectfully wait a few months (I was expecting them to reconsider their decision) before posting this comment here.…
A family reunion, across generations, was catered for by Juan and Flor with such organistional flair, advice and kindness that we felt very well cared for. They helped with transport, advice re restaurants and even arranged for a jacket that was left behind to be sent to the UK, for which we were very grateful. The geography of the area is extraordinary and worth a repeat visit.
That private spa was amazing!!! Great massage given by the kid, who is not only passionate on the philosophy and technique, but also an intelligent college student studying engineering, doing this as a hobby.
The owner himself is worth the visit! Please trust his advice on tours and restaurants - he knows what he is talking about! Make sure he is home as the family travels a month a year. The location is wonderful, right by the lake, but there is a lot of traffic noise from adjacent road. This is a bigger problem in the warm summer when windows have to be open. The rooms are small and hardly has room for two suitcases beside the bed. Bathrooms are cold and extremely small, but clean. Cleaning in general is okay, but not fantastic. Hotels.com told us breakfast was included, but it wasn't. We had to pay 5000 chilean pesos per person, per day.
This was my second visit to Southern Chile and I must say what brought me back was the scenery and people. As a Canadian I am fearing that that my "magnetic north" is shifting to Chile and in particular southern Chile. This was my second time passing through Puerto Varas on my way to Argentina and chose to spend a few extra days in the Puerto Montt / Varas area based on an earlier trip a few years back. To be walking down the main street in PV and along the road that borders the lake with volcanos in view still remains one of my best memories ever. These walks typically started from and end at Canales del Sur which was just great. I stayed in However, without doubt, the biggest impact that I had was having the pleasure of joining Flor and her family at meals and at spare moments around the patio. Helpful? BIG TIME! They were always ready with advice and assistance that worked out well every time. From car rental, to restaurants it was their advice that made my overall experience in PV that much better. For me, travel is about experiencing people and culture. If standardization and being “served” as a customer is what one is looking for, , , , well there are many hotels out there that offer cookie cutter service (servitude has a negative ring to it n'est ce pas?) Anyway, if you are looking to visit a stunning area; have the opportunity to immerse in local culture; laugh along with a very pleasant and beautiful family; and meet a great cat! then Canales del Sur is very highly rated. Flor, gracias y espero volver otra vez cuando puedo.…
A group of 9 people spend a total of 4 nights here. The first night was very cold and it took a long time to get the heater turned on. It never warmed the room. At least there were lots of blankets on the beds. The shower heads supports were out of order and never fixed. For breakfast the owner insists in serving it personally which is nice, but takes a long time. A buffet will be faster. WiFi is only available in the main building. During our stay Mrs. Canales was working at a Hospital so we hardly saw her.
We had a wonderful stay with Juan and Flor in their Bed and Breakfast. The house is beautifully decorated and has different places with cozy sofa and chairs to relax with a glass of wine. They are very warm and friendly people. They also have a whirlpool and have a girl coming over for massages (which we did and it was great!). Nearby there are very good restaurants, but you can also walk along the beach to the center or take a taxi (its cheap). It is a beautiful place and also a good way to get to know local people of puerto varas.
My wife has a painful shoulder injury and needed a massage therapist that could help with pain. She stopped by without calling and the wonderful couple Juan and Flora invited her in. They were able to set up an appointment at their B&B with an excellent massage therapist that afternoon. They had a nice massage table and Jessica, the therapist, was knowledgeable in working on her neck, shoulders and back. Juan and Flor were terrifically helpful and kind. I was able to look at the main house and guest bedroom while I was there. It looks like a wonderful place and super hosts! Thank you Juan, Flor and Jessica!
This is a wonderful B&B with beautiful views of Lake Llanquihue and Osomo Volcano. The hosts are wonderful and will go out of their way to provide information, extra blankets, honey and lemon when you are coming down with a sore throat - honestly they have such a servant attitude and will attempt to provide you with whatever you need. The hot tub was wonderful and we enjoyed the delicious food provided to us at breakfast each morning. You feel as if you are part of the family!
If you are looking for a clean, nice and friendly place to stay while visiting the amazing places in Los Lagos region, this is the place. My husband and I stayed in a room with king size bed and private badroom. The room was full of light, very clean, and simple decoration that allowed us to enjoy the amazing from our window. The place is a little far from downtown, but you can walk along the waterfront for about half an hour and you are there. Still there are some stores and good restaurants nearby. The family is amazing! they treat you as part of the family. If you are not sure about what to do, they can help you with some advice about turistic places to visit.
