Such a fabulous, comfortable, quirky place to stay. Loved the premium room with stand up balcony overlooking tin roof as I could hear the rain on the tin roof and I love the rain! spacious and nice bath. Service was fabulous and food at the restaurant and coffee was great! perfect location. Rooms are clean and wifi is excellent -...

It's good overall but the ambiance is ruined by the carpet smell. It could be the types of detergent they use. Overall service was great. The distance to the metro station isn't as close as expected given that the short cut shown on the map is not feasible as there's no crosswalk to the other side and you'll still need...

Singapore is not a cheap place to stay no matter where you go. The Scarlet is in a wonderful location, is very comfortable, and given the cost of the city as a whole it is good value for the money. You are right in the middle of Chinatown, and are steps away from the Maxwell Road food court, which is...

Staying here was almost like stepping into Alice in Wonderland. I half expected to turn a corner and find a Cheshire Cat grinning at me, or a Mad Hatter dashing through the Lobby. The corridor was like a roller coast track, gently undulating up and down. I love the quirky decor, but I also, loved the great location. Right across the...

I stayed at the Scarlet, Singapore for 2 days during a business trip. The staff were really friendly and helpful. After making the payment online I was informed at the hotel that I would have to put down a deposit of 100 SGD, which would be returned after I checked out and they did. As far as the room is...

We just stayed the one night but found it to be a very comforting place with friendly staff and a clean, quiet room. Great location with lots to do near by. Just a short walk to Chinatown and we also walked up to the Merlion Park which is a must see. Would definitely stay here again.

Great boutique hotel in a nice area. Just a block from Chinatown and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, 3 blocks from nearest MRT, Maxwell Hawker centre across the street, and around the corner from many great restaurants & bars. The room was quiet, temperature comfortable, bathroom very nice with a stand up shower with great water pressure. We enjoyed the...

I stayed four nights April 7 - 11. The hotel is across the street from the Maxwell Food Court and where they are building the new Maxwell metro stop - yet I never heard any noise from either activity. We had three nights in the Scarlet in Singapore, 1-3 April 2017. This hotel is in Chinatown - by far and away the most interesting part of Singapore. The hotel itself is great fun, it's a 'luxury, boutique hotel', with lavish, slightly bohemian decor (all deep reds, blacks and greys, slightly reminiscent of an old French bordello, as as might...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Scarlet Singapore, Singapore's first luxury boutique hotel, has made a bold statement, both locally and internationally, by preserving and combining the architectural styles of Singapore heritage buildings with a striking, audacious concept. Vivacious and uninhibited, the interiors of this 80-room hotel pulsate with an eclectic tension, offering all who enter an adventure for the senses. Using signature red and combining it with opulent gold and sophisticated black, the hotel decor's provocative style is followed through in the rooms including 5 individually-themed suites, each with a tantalizing name - Splendour, Passion, Opulent, Lavish and Swank. ... more   less
