The hotel got the lavish decor in which I found it quite fun. The location is quite nice though it's not in the city centre but I think it's a nice area. The room is quite tiny but the decor and details look expensive. What I really don't like about this hotel is the service which is terrible. I requested...

Love everything about this hotel except for the tiny room. Amenities are top notch and the location is central. It's literally down the street from Maxwell Food Center, Chinatown Complex, and Buddha Tooth Temple. It's also walkable to Clarke Quay and a short Uber ride to Gardens by the Bay.

We loved our two night stay at The Scarlet. The location is absolutely perfect - it is a hop to Chinatown, skip to Club St, and jump to wider Singapore. The hotel offers all the amenities that you need; put aside time to use the roof top jaccuzzi, have a glass of wine at Aria on the roof top, and...

We are normally expected to stay out in Balestier whilst in Singapore. But the Scarlet was cheaper, so I booked it myself. Hard to get dropped off and picked up by taxi as there is no parking there, but once inside it's lovely. Basically, it's the entire first floor of the shop-houses below... It was well located - breakfast in...

Had a day trip to Singapore and needed to unexpectedly spend the night. Had a meeting in the Telok Ayer area and wanted a hotel in the vicinity. The Scarlet was in walking distance. I usually stay at mainstream branded venues, however since this had good reviews and I could walk to the hotel, I picked it. Quaint, friendly and...

Wonderful hotel in the heart of Chinatown and very close and convenient to MRT stations, shopping and Maxwell hawker center. We practically ate breakfast there everyday. The room was spacious enough for us (2 adults and 1 toddler). We got upgraded to a king size bed which was wonderful. The staff was very polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend this...

Let me start with a confession - I am not a big fan of boutique hotels. But Scarlet Singapore is definitely a welcome departure from my usual pattern of staying at 'name brand' hotels. I booked a reservation for the entire month of October 2016, on a whim. I was a true 'walk-in' booking. I am big believer that any...

Before going to Singapore everyone warned me about how dear it is, but if you stay in Chinatown, it is not expensive at all. The hotel is quirky and sort of like out of fairytale. Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Scarlet Singapore, Singapore's first luxury boutique hotel, has made a bold statement, both locally and internationally, by preserving and combining the architectural styles of Singapore heritage buildings with a striking, audacious concept. Vivacious and uninhibited, the interiors of this 80-room hotel pulsate with an eclectic tension, offering all who enter an adventure for the senses. Using signature red and combining it with opulent gold and sophisticated black, the hotel decor's provocative style is followed through in the rooms including 5 individually-themed suites, each with a tantalizing name - Splendour, Passion, Opulent, Lavish and Swank. ... more   less
