Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

They have rude staff with horrible accent working here. They seem to mouth off to guests quickly but not pay attention in cleaning the rooms, even in leisure. The price you pay for rooms are acceptable.

If it hasn't been said before, I'll say it here - the RELC is fantastic value for money due the large clean rooms with a great location - Orange Grove Road is a lovely residential road off the Orchard main drag - this road incidentally also houses the Shangri-La. If you're not up to the 8-10 minute walk, there is a shuttle bus from the RELC to take you down to Orchard Road and beyond.

My high-floor room also offered very attractive views from the balcony, which is also of very generous proportions.

Just a tip: If you're wondering whether to have a lie-in or go down to get the free breakfast, opt for the lie-in.

I stayed in relc for 3days 2 nights.. My room is the two queen bed In a big room.... But here is my review,

Pros:
1.room is spacious! Bed is comfy..carpeted floor...
2.toilet in the room is nice
3. Location is very near to orchard (20 minutes walk) or 5 mins walk to the bus stop or über (which u can easily get from the hotel) only cost sgd 8 (I paid extra this trip (sgd14) coz its Chinese new year....
4. The cafe guy is very nice, my family woke up late n came to the cafe late, he actually ask them to see the food first, if ok, then pay n come in coz he don't want to waste our money

Cons
1. Food for breakfast is plain taste..not nice at all
2.hotel is a school (regional language centre). I'm lucky it's a holiday time, no school,.. Imagine if there is classes...😓
3.reception staff not friendly at all
4. Call for housekeeping, reception and duty manager using the phone from the room is useless.. None of then will pick up their phone.. I'm surprised! Even the duty manager... Called on the day I checked in just to request for extra 2 towels...which is at 12pm and another time I tried is at around 7pm.. And the call is not 1 dial... I called sooo many times

Me and my guest arrived at the hotel to be greeted by a rude receptionist who gestured for us to wait as we were late for check in and she mentioned she had to "update her system on checking in times". For whatever reason the receptionist had went through the no smoking rule 3 times and had circled and highlighted in yellow the fine and rule. I did feel that this was very strange but did not think anything of it, got our card and proceeded to the room.

As soon as i opened the door i was disgusted. The carpet was damp, the toilet was moldy at the corners!!There strange stain marks up the walls and a perculiar smell. My guest was feeling unwell and wanted to rest and the room telephone was not working and in my stupidity I did not flag this matter then.

Upon checking out I tired to hand over the key cards to the receptionist and they immediately asked for my credit card instead. Unsuspecting anything I passed it over and wa told that I would be charged a late check out fee of $36 and a Smoking charge of $200. I was shocked and surprised. The receptionist informed me that there were sprinklers in the room that went off because we had been smoking. Which I thought was complete nonsense and demanded to see the room because if the sprinklers had gone off the room would be wet! Going up with the manager to the room he then explained to me that the it was not that the sprinklers that went off but that the room smelled of smoke and that there were ashes all around the room. I explained that neither my guest or I were smokers and that the perculiar smell had been there prior to us entering. And that if we were in fact smoking that the sprinklers would go off and that is what I was told happened to the room in the first place. He insisted that we were smoking and he was "just doing his job" and there was nothing he could do. He tried to coerce me not to write in to the managemnt beacuse of the "evidence" he had and the fact that the room did in fact smell like smoke.

This was the first I have experienced such a thing. This hotel probably does this all the time! Where they make unsuspecting patrons pay additional charges by making up bogus claims! It needs to be SHUT DOWN FOR GOOD!!!

I have to say this is one of the worst hotel stays ive ever had.

The room was so basic it did not have any bedroom slippers. No iron no wifi even.
Its 2021 and they do not offer wifi for their rooms. Apparently only some rooms has wifi services available. No swimming pool here as well.

The room had this musky smell like the sheets were not dried properly and their towels and soap were all really dirty.

There were weird stains on the bed head board.

If u ask for more bottled water u have to pay. If you want extra towels those were subjected to costs as well.

The only pros of this place is that its spacious and relatively close to orchard road(town)

From checking in, to the room and checking out. There's nothing to fault. RELC never disappoint. Not my first time here. Would come back for another Daycation or even Staycation. Calm and Nice view. Comfortable bedding, Tv channels very clear and most channels that i want to watch is also available. Fox, HBO etc. Mini beverage corner is with clean cups, glasses. Fast boiling kettle. Comfortable shower area. Besides there's no bidet.

Check in staff Chloe was pleasant.
Mr Willy is as outstanding as ever. Comfortable to talk to and Professional Manager.

If you visit singapore for having fun to see attraction, it is not the place you want to stay. This hotel is out of our expectation. The location wise is quite far from mrt and orchard road. It takes around 20 minute walking to get orchard road and the nearest mrt. The hotel itself actually is a language center and we were initially having difficulty to find because no sign and even word "hotel" stick on the building. Staff was not attentive at all as mention with other traveller. Check in was so long to take just to write the breakfast coupun one by one. And very strict to the time for check in. Room wise, we took quadraple room with double queen bed, is spacious. The room floor was not well build as we can feel uneven. The bed was comfortable, clean and tidy. Breakfast was very standard and shuld be improved. For the price given, the hotel is considered overrated. You can just simply find the other hotel located in the good area with the same price.

Overall Staff and Room Were ok, Room size is big as per picture. We check in late at around 2100hrs plus minus and We CHECK OUT on the same day at around 2330hrs.
Somehow people will ask why did i check out early and why my title i put as the scariest hotel is because when i was i the room with my partner there's been few times someone knocking at our door, But when we went to check there's nobody there. and it never happen once or twice a total of 04 times all together till me and my partner feel weird and scared. We decided to leave the hotel and guest what we found in the room drawer before we go ?? A BIBLE was found. That make us more scared where would in any hotel in the world i go there's no bible place in the room drawer. We went down and inform the duty manager with regard to the above mentions case. He confirm to view cctv for me to see if there's anyone who came to our door for the few hours we were in the room. And unfortunately there's isn't anybody. Plus why there's a bible in the drawer in at the room ??

On 3rd June, I arrived to your hotel and did check in progress. The counter required me 100 dollars for depositing. Today, I asked the counter refund the deposit but they said they didn’t receive it after 1-2 hours checking CCTV. Bad experience. I put my belief in the reputation of your Hotel but now I lost it.

Hello! My apologies for a super late reply. It really depends on the mode of transportation you'll take but basically it takes 15 mins from the hotel to Merlion by bus. You can also take the MRT. Marina Bay is much nearer. Hope this helps and not too late 🙂

Please do not book this hotel for your honeymoon. I think it would be a bad mistake. This is a basic hotel with a feel a bit like a converted factory building. The only thing decent is that it has big rooms, but they are so basic that the size is not important. Also, it feels as if there is nothing to do there. Seriously it would be a bad mistake in my opinion.
