The room was very quiet with no noise from the street, was quite clean, spacious enough and with a normal bathroom; the bad thing was a strange smell that there was in the whole hotel, but after few minutes you are used to it.
The forniture and the carpets were quite "aged" but were fine, no problems with them.
The location is very good, close to MRT (Subway) and to many shopping centres and on the way to the airport so the taxi ride was not expensive.
The PROBLEMS started on the morning of departure when i recieved the final bill i queried a payment for a limo transfer the response i got was i would have to sort it out when i returned to the uk in approx 6-7 weeks after our holiday.
I also asked for a limo to take us back to the airport and the reply was i would have to take a taxi, by this time my wife was getting upset about what was going on, so when the taxi arrived he had trouble getting all the luggage in and even had to put 2 cases on the front seat and we were charged 50 dollars for the ride. I also had to pay approx 270 pounds for the privlige of having our room ready for when we arrived at 8-00am otherwise we would have had to wait till 2 o,clock to check in.
At the time of check out the staff on the desk and the person who came out of the office who,s name i did not get, did not seem to give a HOOT .
I have been in contact with the hotel but to no avail, i am totally disgusted with the check out staff they put a damper on what was a great experiance of staying in a great hotel.
Down sides :
I boooked this hotel for 2 nights stay. After first night, i found that my leg have few red spots i thought it was mosquitor bites. So i didnt border it. But after the second night i found that my hand, leg, neck , stomach and back have a lot of red spots. I had ask the hotel staff to check my bed and they said they didnt see anything. Thats all the answers they given to me and the case just end like that . I feel so dissapointed. I have attach some photos as reference. Some more the sound of water flush quite noisy.
Bugis Junction shopping mall and MRT station is barely 5 mins walk from the hotel and restaurants are aplenty once you step out of the hotel so no problem if you ever get hungry.
The rooms are cosy, sheets are clean and the bathroom was fairly spacious. Only complain is the tv set in the hotel had only several channels tuned and no cable!
Overall, great value for money and great location!
Comments on:
Reservation procedure: we booked online and posted queries and we received prompt respones
Hotel Staff: promptly acts on requests; our belongings were safe even with the room service
Customer Service: accommodated our request to store our baggages even after we had checked out; dutifully answered our queries on directions to places and public tansport
Room: space was big enough for us three to move about; beds, pillows and blankets were comfortable; the spacious cabinets, desk and chair were in good condition; lighting was adequate; small refrigerator, wall-mounted tv and water heater were functioning well; there were windows which if closed help block off noise from the streets; curtains blocked off light; split-type aircon cooled the room adequately; no bugs or odors; elevator was functioning well;
Bathroom: space was big enough to move about; there was clean running water; water heater was functional; a window helped improve air circulation; dippers are available on request; supplies were replenished daily (toothbrush, soap, shampoo, towels, drinking water); we were also provided slippers and rug;
Accessibility: this is its winning feature: Bugis junction (with some shops and MRT station) is just a 3-minute walk; Bus stop is just across the street; 711 is a few steps away; plenty of restaurants on same street
Food: Breakfast was not included in the package but this worked for us, allowing us the flexibility to try other options
Value for Money: good value for a three-person accommodation compared with other hotels
We stayed with our 2 small kids for 4 nights. The room is spacious enough and clean as you'd expect with all the amenities working. You are provided with a toothbrush, soap, shampoo, working kettle, small fridge and AC. Plus, a bottled water which is a nice touch as I wasn't sure at first if local tap water is safe to drink.
What I love about this place is its location = MRT is maybe 300m; there are buses right in front of the hotel and then you have the taxis, which will take you seconds to catch. Moreover, it's literally minutes from any type of restaurant you fancy; Number of breakfast opportunities along the street on a way to MRT (local eateries, starbucks, toastbox, subway,McD ... you name it); not bad shopping at Bugis Junction either and you can walk (if you wish) to the Arab and Little India quarters (which we have done with the kids, so it's really close); I bet you maybe can even walk to the Chinatown; only minutes by bus from the Marina or proper shopping at Orchard ...
All in all - yeah, I'd stay again. If all you are after is a clean, comfortable bed and bathroom in a safe location, Beach hotel is your place.
It took a lot of surfing through agency websites before I found a hotel in Singapore that had a room that didn't stretch my budget too much, and that looked any bigger than a MATCHBOX !!!
In fact I got my dates totally mixed up (I added one more day than I should have done to my overnight flight from Manchester, via Doha, and when I tried to check in at Beach Hotel, they looked confused and said they had NO RESERVATION IN MY NAME !!!
Only when we compared paperwork did they spot that my Booking Confirmation said 14 nights from Feb 9th ...... and today was Feb 8th !!!
They got their doorman to take me to Park View Hotel (just three doors away) and they could provide a room for that night .................. and although a little MORE expensive .......... my Fiancee's first comment as she walked into the room was ..... "Oh, what a TINY ROOM !"
Thankfully when we arrived at the FAR LESS IMPRESSIVE LOOKING Beach Hotel the following day, the room we were given, although not as nicely furnished, was nearly TWICE the size of the room at Park View.
My Fiancee flew home to The Philippines a couple of days before I left for the UK, and for the last two nights, in order to try to save some money, I moved myself into a Much Cheaper Hotel, where I "enjoyed" THE TINIEST HOTEL ROOM I'VE EVER SEEN !!!
Based upon my hunt for the Best Room I could afford, and my later experience, I have to say that for $130 SG a night, I wouldn't be surprised if Beach Hotel offered the BIGGEST & BEST ROOM in City Centre Singapore !
Our room had a Huge Bed (Very comfy too), plenty of space for our luggage and for walking about, a small table, with two chairs, a small wardrobe with a fridge under, and a drawer and storage shelves under the "Dressing Table". We had lots of windows, many which opened and of course Aircon, and a small but adequate Bathroom. There was an electric water heater, so there was ALWAYS hot water available.
All the Staff were Very friendly and Helpful, and Especially so the lady who cleaned rooms on our floor.
As Bryan H said in his review .... DON'T be put off by the TOTALLY UNIMPRESSIVE Access and Reception Area !
I wonder "what on Earth have I booked us into" when I first arrived !!!
This place definitely fits into the expression ... "Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover".
Beach Hotel is a very short walk to Bugis Village, Bugis Street Market and Bugis MRT Station and it is surrounded by Shops, Street Cafes and Restaurants. It's a good area and well placed for getting around.
I was taken ill just two days after arriving. I damaged my spine in a lifting accident at work 20 years ago, and an awkward pull from my G/F to get me out of bed for Breakfast triggered agonising pain. I used up all the emergency med's I'd brought with me without any improvement and ended up in Raffles Hospital. Which is Another PLUS for Beach Hotel, as the hospital is within walking distance (but not for me as I couldn't walk), and only $5 by taxi.
All the staff were very helpful and sympathetic to my condition.
Unfortunately my incapacity put paid to most of the Trips and Visits we had planned for our holiday, and we spent a lot more time than we had intended, in our room.
So it was a DOUBLE BONUS that our room was SO BIG and COMFORTABLE.
My biggest complaints would have to be the AWFUL TV Reception, with only 3 of the 15 or so channels providing a signal that could be watched, and the VERY EXPENSIVE and Unsecure Wi-Fi facility.
YES, I would stay there again, and YES I would recommend Beach Hotel to friends.
I found the staff were nice and welcomed us on arrival. The location is not bad, took us 15 minutes to get to our 'singapore slings' in the main part of town, which is not far.
I think for what you pay you cant complain to much about it being basic. I've visited far worse!
I actually like it being next to the restaurants, very handy indeed!
