Needed to book three rooms for family for three nights, and didn’t want to blow our budget on hotel stays. After extensive research on Expedia, Kayak and TripAdvisor, I decided upon Porcelain Hotel in Chinatown, for several reasons: >> I didn’t want to spend >$100/night and didn’t want to stay in a hostel. With advanced booking, I was able to...

After seeing some pretty nice pictures of the hotels best suite rooms, we booked in for a week at $200 a night. Although quite expensive we thought it best to pay good money to get a really nice place. Check in staff were not the friendliest, room was not cleaned properly on arrival but to be fair they rectified immediatly....

Hotels in Singapore tend to be either very expensive or very poor quality. Porcelain Hotel is a nice middle ground. The rooms aren't cheap and they are small (although the photos do a good job of showing what the rooms are like), but they aren't any more expensive or small than comparable hotels in major western cities. However, the location...

Place is a bit dark. Room is small but quite clean. The hotel location is convenience and close to China town, MRT and bus stop which ease for us to find food and travel to any attraction places in Singapore.

I have chosen the Porcelain because it was both well located and cheeper than other hotels. Rooms, as mention in many feedbacks, are very small (the single bedroom I have chosen was 9sq meters) - however, the website is quite clear on the fact that it is a tiny hotel: so, if you choose it, you amuse be aware of...

I knew the rooms were small, so I booked "deluxe" rooms. I viewed the photos on their web site. I don't know how they took those photos but they are amazing in the way they create the impression of space. There was none. Oh- the towels were dingy, the room smelled musty and was a bit damp feeling. At least...

While I did read the reviews on TA, I wasn't prepared for a room that had a bed surrounded on three sides by the room walls!! We barely had room to move and we put our suitcases sideways under the bed (they almost fitted). The bed had a very thin, uncomfortable mattress with a tatty old pillow each with stained...

This hotel near to MRT China Town and you can find food courts, street foods, souvenirs and many exchange shops (rate is better than bank) . My family (2 adults, 1 kid and 1 baby) got the room type of triple executive room that is white colour and yep! as you know small size and.. no window. Overall was simply...

Small & dingy rooms, receptionists are not well behaved (not a single staff gave me a smile - comes for free in this world...isn't it ?) in the 5 days of my stay in the hotel. Only the lady from house-keeping was well-behaved. The room phone did not work, the safety locker was not functional, and the room was as...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
