With the sky-high prices of hotels in Singapore, I decided to go with a budget option and took a gamble with Amrise in Geylang. The Pros first: It's really near to the MRT station. Takes less than 10 mins walking and that was really convenient. There are also a fair amount of good restaurants around (although this was soon to...

The hotel is good for the price, a clean room with AC, wifi and shower but not necessarily windows. Shopping and restaurants just outside the hotel. A Metro station in walking distance from the hotel makes it easy to reach all the greate attractions this town has to offer.

This was the cheapest room I could find in Singapore, so my expectations were very low. That being said I was very happy with our stay. The rooms were very small but nice and clean. And the AC work well which is key for humid Singapore. The location was a bit far from the main areas but it right between...

Going into this hotel experience, I knew I'd be paying above average for at the very most, an average room, and that's pretty much what the room was. The room was small, the bed took up most of the space, and there were no windows save the tiny one in the bathroom. But, it's safe and clean, the front-desk is...

It's hard to be fair to this hotel - it's kind of scungy but then it is a very cheap hotel in a very expensive city and you need to keep your expectations in line with that. On my first night there I was treated to the sounds of loud music and screaming children, as well as weird smells and...

Very quick trensfert to the airport and marina bay! You can found a lot of Asian restorants. About the room.... I booked a superior room, superior it's just if you want a window in your room!! The room was so horrible a lot of mushroom in the bathroom, bad climatisation.... Next time I'll try the Sand hotel Marina Bay!!

I live in China and have stayed in a lot of Asian hotels. This place is older, but very clean, and for the money very reasonable. Remember, this is Singapore. The rooms are bigger than what you would get in Hong Kong for the same price, plus the amenities are better. The water pressure is good and the water is...

Took a transit flight of a budget airline, hence can't stay in one of Changi's transit hotels. Saw a review here in trip advisor for this hotel and opted to try. For a budget traveller, or those in transit and needs a place to rest near the airport, this hotel is recommended (SGD17 on taxi). Rooms are small but for...

Staying in Geylang

Neighbourhood Profile
Only a short journey from Singapore’s sparkling and polished city centre, Geylang is a world away. Here in one of the least touristy areas of Singapore, visitors are privy to an unfiltered glimpse of Singapore life. On Sunday afternoons, migrant workers gather in Geylang to let off steam after a tough week. At the eastern end of Geylang Road, families and friends happily enjoy picnics. By contrast, at the western end, a more colourful side of Singapore can be seen, as street workers mingle with Sunday revelers in outdoor coffee shops. Take a friend, grab a beer and a local meal (frog porridge, perhaps?), and settle in to enjoy the show.
