What a terrible stay. Aircon constantly breaking down. No-One answering at reception. Ladies of the night everywhere. This is not a family hotel. You have been warned. Rooms far too small. We had bare electrical cables where wall lights once were. Covered with a sliver of masking tape.

I booked Hotel Le Peranakan because of cheap price, but when we saw our room, it was really really small. Its impossible that 2 person can walk in the room at the same time. My wife must wait on bed, until im finish. There´s only one bed and the aircondition is directly above the bed. The cold wind comes directly...

This is a small charming hotel about 10 minutes from central Singapore by car. The rooms are tiny and therefore I would only recommend this for solo business travellers. The broadband was fine and free. The area had some nice little coffe shops and bars as well as a service station a tire shop etc. There was an area of...

Had to stop over in Singapore for a connecting flight. Didnt want to wait in the airport for 8hrs so i decided to look for an affordable, close to the airport bed to stay. As i walked into the Hotel an elderly man walking out with a younger female handing back the keys, i got suspicious??? Bt then i was...

This hotel is on the east side, near to East Coast Park, so is roughly equidistant between Changi airport and the usual concentration of downtown hotels (Marina City, Little India, Chinatown, etc). Although this makes it out of the way for downtown nightlife and shopping, it is beside or near many restaurants and bars, especially if you include the beach...

The rooms are really small, the bed takes up nearly the entire space, but at least there are windows which are double glazed to keep out the noise. The pictures on their website make it look a lot bigger and nicer than it really is. Cleanliness wise it was fine. We stayed here because it was cheap-ish and not too...

One star extra for the hotel service is deserved. My small room was clean and comfortable. You can get into the city by bus, there are some bus stop around. The staff was kind and friendly, ready to help if I needed. Excellent price in Singapore. If you need a budget price for accomodation, this would meet you. Highly recommend.

We stayed at this hotel for one night only but it was a very nice experience. The room is small (as everywhere in Singapore) but very warm and cozy. We were lucky enough to get a window room but I think they may have non window rooms as well. This hotel is two stars but it was much much better...

My husband and I stayed there whilst our house was undergoing renovation. Overall, it was a satisfactory stay especially for the price we paid (Below S$100 per night). In total we stayed there for 3 weeks which in such a small room can get quite depressing. As per what the other reviews have mentioned, the room is EXTREMELY small, but...

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighbourhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighbourhood is packed with colourful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
