We are regular patrons in this hotel. Checked in more than 3 times every year whenever we come by on a vacation. Unfortunately lately we see the standards have been declining. We always choose pool level rooms for our kids but our last stay was a bit unpleasant. Saw groups of people gambling and treating the hotel too much like...

My family and I approached the front desk as walk-in guests on March 20th. Initially we wanted to book 3 rooms for ourselves, however we were so appalled and disgusted by the attitude of the staff ROLAND (I wish I could have his name in bold!) at the desk, we ended up only booked one room for my sister and...

Stayed here in May 2014. Chose this hotel for the spacious room, which indeed was big and the great price! The hotel is very basic, staff is helpful. There's no cafe or restaurant but there's a 24-hour cafe right next door that serves local fare. There's also a convenience store nearby. If you're looking to relax and chill then this...

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel and it was good, we got a very spacious bed and spacious room. Room was clean but they also have to consider cleaning the mini bar, table tops, water heater and especially the bath tub carefully. Some receptionists were friendly and helpful but the ones who were there when we arrived were arrogant. Hotel...

This is certainly not the high end accommodation or location of Singapore… It really is 2 star…BUT It has got it where it counts… The room was clean, the bed was huge and clean and comfortable, it had a bath, water was hot, and there are local food courts… Go to the one that is newer around the corner and...

Amongst all of the budget hotels in singapore, Hotel 81 Tristar is one of the good ones. The pool was clean and so are the rooms. Rooms are furnished with a king sized bed and it was very spacious. More importantly is the convenience of food - all within walking distance. If you're ok with the normal local food at...

The hotel is situated in a very vibrant neighbourhood, full of good food and shops. The location of the hotel is also good as is between downtown and the airport. The lobby looks OK and the receptionists are friendly and helpful, but the rooms despite being spacious are dirty, the bathroom is the last place you would like to take...

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of October in a double room over looking the pool. The room was quite large with a comfortable king size bed flat screen TV and a fridge. The bathroom had a bath with a shower over it. The room was clean at a glance, but the cupboards had a coating of...

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighbourhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighbourhood is packed with colourful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
