Ah Wonder Lodge. You take the good and the bad. I really wanted to give them a 5, but also thought that maybe a 3 would be apt. So I'll split the difference. To start, I will say that you should not expect 5-star accommodations in Banaue. Most are humble, family-run inns & homestays. I will start with the bad but please read til the end: - We booked 3 rooms (with attached bath) through the Agoda app. When we got there, manang Mildred (owner/manager) wasn't expecting us. Thankfully, they had 1 room available that we originally wanted and 2 at the "shared bath" area. They then promised to move us to the preferred rooms the next day when other guests move out. It turns out, a helpful former guest set up the Agoda account and just informs them of bookings. They were not informed in this case. - The third floor rooms (shared bathroom), do not have working electrical outlets. Guests whould have to plug at the hallway near the stairs I think. - The balconies do not have light bulbs. To be fair, they offered to put bulbs, we just declined because we didn't really need it. - If you ask breakfast to be prepared by a certain time, they may not be able to make it on time especially if there are many other guests who request breakfast. To be fair again, we asked for times which we ourselves didn't end up meeting. But this could be a problem for more time conscious guests. - It is dated all over the place, but I'm not so concerned with that. Others might be though. Now for the good: - They did a lot for us but one that stands out is the extra mile they went to help my son and dad who got sick at separate times. Some of those who helped, I don't think were even employed by the hotel. I believe they were relatives. - When our vehicle's brakes needed replacing, one of the staff, manang Elsie accompanied me every step of the way to help with connections and the dialect. - Elsie also served as our tour guide and we were quite happy with her knowledge and personal stories. - As mentioned, they were very attentive and accommodating with our requests. - One night, 2 non-Filipino tourists came in, presumably from an ill-advised long hike. If I'm not mistaken they were unable to withdraw money at that hour. They requested to have just any food that can be spared. Thankfully there were some leftovers so they were able to eat. I believe they also stayed the night (not sure if they had to pay) - The food was really good. - Interesting note: they had a lot of letters/testimonials posted on their wall that were written in Hebrew. It looks like they get a good number of guests from Israel. Mildred even learned how to cook some Israeli dishes. Even the restaurant beside them (Las Vegas) had Israeli dishes in their menu. Other notes: - Most hotels in the area will not have their own parking spots. You would park at the nearby market overnight for a fee. Note that if you don't remove your vehicle during the day, you might get complaints from Jeepney drivers who use that lot. - The view from the hotel is mostly the street. You do get a glimpse of the terraces between the buildings though. - It could get noisy on the street late at night. Lots of drinking going on when we were there. I really hope this hotel finds more success in the future. I wish they are able to renovate/update eventually. It doesn't need to be extravagant. And I hope they are able to properly utilize online booking sites because this could be a good source of business for them.

Me and my companion were assigned at the end of the hallway in the third floor and we found out that there was no outlet, neither hot shower. And the bedsheets seems not being changed for a long time. My friend asked me if I would like to transfer to another room, but since I'm very tired driving all day, I told him, "it's ok here." Since our room was on the street side, my companion complained of the noise, but I told him that Banaue is a rural area and the noise would die down in the night. Two days after we came from the trip I noticed blisters appearing on my body. The doctor says it is herpes simplex which I might have gotten by using a hotel where had this disease also and the covers were not change.

Most if not all accommodations at the town of Banaue are fairly basic, a bed to rest your tired body. Wonder Lodge is one of them and we enjoyed our stay mainly because of the hospitable owner. We are 3 travelers who traveled to Banaue for a couple of nights stay during the month of March 2016. Since we'd like to stay right at the town center to be near places to eat and buy stuff, we've chosen Wonder Lodge, it is right at the corner of the market area. It has big reception area at the first floor and many locally crafted seats and tables. Mildred, the lady who greeted us and the owner herself ushered us to our rooms. The rooms were basic with bathroom but neat. No touts or pesky tourist guides to bother us as we only need to do a DIY hike to the famous Banaue Rice Terraces and Mildred was kind enough to give us information. We took our lunch there, home-cooked meals were prepared by the owner herself as per our request, delicious and affordable. All in all, we had a wonderful time at the lodge and in Banaue. Thank you Mildred.

First of all, one should not expect finding luxurious accommodation in Banaue, that would be hard to find if not nil in this small town. Visitors who come to here are mostly travelers and adventure seekers, not the luxury holiday-makers. Wonder Lodge location is very central beside the town market. Breakfast is good size and inexpensive. Our room was clean, painted in green with two single beds, bathroom with hot shower, no TV but who need to watch in Banaue when you can watch the beautiful nature. There is a balcony where one can smoke while watching the activities on the street below and a partial view of the mountain and rice terraces part of the town center. Several seating and dining table at the lobby with TV and a karaoke. We ordered our dinner there, delicious cooking. The rice terraces viewpoints can be visited by walking along the main highway above the lodge. We even walk from there to Taman Village and walk along the rice fields. Beside the lodge is another affordable restaurant called Las Vegas, I think, that serve good food too. But do not look for fastfood in this small town, you'll never find one. There is a big store few steps from the lodge along the same street where food stuff are cheap. We were even allowed to cook twice at the lodge's kitchen which saved us some bucks. Best of all, the owner who always flash a wide smile is so friendly and hospitable. A true Ifugao hospitality!

Arriving at Banaue town without any room reservations, we walked down from the small bus depot to the town center which is couple of minute walk down the long flight of stairs. Just at the corner on the left side is the Banaue Wonder Lodge. We were immediately welcomed by a smiling owner and given a room at the second floor with own bathroom. The town has several lodging, although one should not expect frills as this is a small town with no boutique hotels or holiday inns. The biggest hotel but a bit costly is way out of the town center. We chose Wonder Lodge as it is exactly located right beside the town market and the transportation terminals of buses, jeepneys that ply to nearby towns, tour vans and three-wheeled tricycles that can take you to the rice terraces if you’re lazy taking a hike. Wonder Lodge is a humble and simple family-owned lodging, the third floor where we stayed for a night has two shared bathrooms, simple rooms, bed-blanket-pillows, just a traveler’s need. On our second night, we transferred to the second floor with its own bathroom with hot shower, fairly basic but just enough to rest a tired body after exploring the surroundings. Lobby has a lot of seatings, a small TV and at night they have a KTV room, good enough for the singers in some of us. Banaue has no bars or pubs to boot so it was nice to find a videoke room at the lodge. Singing while drinking beers and retire before midnight. Breakfast at the lodging is good and affordable but most of all, the owner is very hospitable and friendly. Wifi internet at the lobby is free of charge, difficult to find one that do not charge for internet at this small town. Safe, comfortable, convenient and friendly accommodation right at the center of town, clean beds, no bugs, we enjoyed our three night stay, it is highly recommended.

First i'd like to say this is a great place and is conviniently located. It's right next to the bus stand for trips to Bontoc, Sagada and Batad. The owner is nice and can help with questions about Banaue. Rooms start at 300 Peso and it has free WiFi. Also, it's only a 2 - 3 minute walk up the hill to the government tourist centre. Now for the bad bit. Had it not been for this i'd have rated it 4 stars. My room, or rather my bed was absolutely riddled with bedbugs. I've been travelling many years and i know it's inevitable to get them now and again. This wasn't just a few bites though. My entire body from head to toe was covered in bites and rashes. It's clearly an infestation. I asked other guests and they said they'd experienced no problems. So it was just in my room (305). After moving to another place i was still getting bitten (though nowhere near as bad as that first night). In the end, i threw all my clothes that had been exposed away and am now living bedbug free. Though only T-shirts and a few shorts, i'm going to have to brunt the cost of replacing those items of clothing. So if you stay here, avoid room 305.
