This IBIS Hotel is conveniently located to Central and public transportation (underground, tram and bus). HK has a world class public transport system.
The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast is an option and worth considering for the convenience. This is a good base for a short or longer visit to Hong Kong.

Response from Jennifer Siu, Guest Services / Front Office at Ibis Hong Kong Central & Sheung Wan
Responded 23 Sept 2024
Dear HeritageTrekker2011, Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We are thrilled to hear that you found our location convenient and staff is welcoming and helpful. As you mentioned the transport system is great in Hong Kong, the different means of transportation available in front of the hotel, such as tram, bus and MTR station are indeed convenient to reach all places worth visiting in Hong Kong. At ibis our hotel offers an economic product and strives to provide a satisfying breakfast with food options rotating daily and ranging from local and Cantonese cuisines to Western and international selections. We will continue to review the food and beverage offerings for a better experience. Thank you again for your favourable comments. We look forward to welcoming you back for another enjoyable stay. Kind Regards, Jennifer Siu Hotel Operations Manager

While my other 'go to' hotels were full up during convention season I found this IBIS facility to be a good value for the central Hong Kong Island location - on a tram line and near enough to the metro stations (mid-way between two however so choose wisely if pulling luggage). Basic amenities - with a good Chinese restaurant and Starbucks in the lobby, Enjoy, Fr. Bruce+

I recently went to HK for a long weekend. As the IBIS was closest to my friends in mid-levels, I stayed there. I arrived very late at night and just missed the final shuttle bus to the hotel. A taxi from the Airport Express central station got me there in about 10min, and I think it was less than $50HK.
Checkin was quick and friendly. I only speak English and had no issues. Connecting to the internet in my room was easy. Shower was awesome, and the bed was better after I asked housekeeping to put a mattress topper on it.
I didn't pay for breakfast, as I found it too expensive compared to what I would normally eat. The Starbucks on the ground floor was fine for my breakfast needs.
Overall, I think this hotel is great value for money (at their current rates in Jan 2020 as compared to other HK hotels). What DOES need to be attended to though is the "gym". It seems to be an old storage space that has been painted and a bunch of equipment squished in there. There are technically 4 areas (1 rower, 1 elliptical, 1 treadmill, 1 small rack of dumbells); however, it started to feel crowded once there were 2 of us in there. I'm used to busy gyms, but this was clearly designed by someone who never uses a gym. If someone was using weights, no one else could as there was no floor space. Trying to get to the door while someone was using the weights meant that you had to go through their space. That same amount of equipment needs to be in an area that is double the size, or take it all away (2/3 of the cardio stuff was out of order anyway) and remove the "gym" listing from the webpage.
This is a very dense area of town. A city view room means that I can see into other people's flats, and vice versa (even from my hotel room to another room at the IBIS from certain angles). There has been a lot of buildings go up in the last few years. The "stunning harbour view" may only be stunning from 1-2 rooms now, and the rest of the rooms have a view by peeking through other buildings towards the water. Something for others to post about, as I did not have pay extra for the Harbour view room.

This was the second time we stayed at Ibis. We know this is a budget hotel which we didn’t expect much services. However, Anson’s prompt and attentive services surprised us! She was very attentive throughout the entire check in and kindly explained to us what our room and package have included. She took action immediately after we informed her our room wasn’t equipped with mini bar. She was also very mindful that she gave us cutleries when she knew we ordered food delivery.
She definitely made our stay much better :)

Situated on the cusp of traditional Hong Kong and the modern metropolis, this Ibis is an ideal base for exploring both sides of the city. It is right on the tram line and airport bus routes, close to famous old dim sum outlets and a short walk from the Macau Ferry Pier and Sheung Wan MTR station. The rooms are spotless, comfortable and have everything you would need. There is fast wifi, a restaurant and bar on site and the prices are very reasonable, considering where it is. If you are lucky, your room may even give you a sneak peek of Victoria Harbour.

It has a very convenient location close to two subway stations and only a 3 mins walk to airport bus stop. Rooms are comfortable and quiet, it was one of the vey few times that i did not need earplugs while sleeping. Very good buffet breakfast, fast wifi. Complimentary late check-out a nice extra. Highly recommended.

Paid extra for a room with harbour view. It was a nice enough room - but it looked directly onto an emerging skyscraper which greatly obstructed the view. I contacted front desk who said I could have a room higher up but as we were only a few floors from the top, it made very little difference.
A popular hotel owing to its location. It has a breakfast restaurant which serves a very good range of self service foods. There is a bar by the reception but it seems to lack any ' come and try me'. There is a bar/restaurant as well as a coffee shop at street level. These are well patronised and the food served seems wholesome and reasonably priced. There are daily happy hours.

First time at this hotel and I was very impressed. It's not flash it's not 5 star but it is clean, in a great location and the staff are very good.
Located only 5 minutes from the train and 5 minutes from Macoa ferry terminal and only a 20 minute walk into the heart of things you can't beat the location.
I'll definitely stay here again

Stayed here for 2 nights in December. The hotel is in a great location. There is a free shuttle if you use the Airport Express train which drops you outside the hotel. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are a good size but I must say the mattress is quite hard but you are able to call for a mattress topper buts it’s subject to availability. I would recommend the hotel and would stay here again.

+1
We always enjoy staying at this centrally located hotel. It is nice that it is on the Airport Express shuttle bus route. With the trolley right in front of the hotel you can be anywhere in this city in a few minutes. While this hotel is not fancy, it is a very good value for the money you pay. Rooms are very clean. If there is anything wrong with the room, it is addressed right away and if not, a new room is assigned. Rooms are about average size for Hong Kong, meaning small but the rooms are arranged very well to make use of all the space available. Jennifer, the front desk manager was most helpful in all our dealings and we must give a shout out to Anson at the front desk who gave us valuable information about restaurants, attractions and public transportation tips.
