We stayed here for 3 days 2 nights to celebrate my birthday. Over all a good hotel, they have a free buffet breakfast, relatively all the basic needs that you need in a hotel. Maybe it could have been better if they offer a free wifi though. Location of the hotel is good for shopaholics its very near jade market...

Silka Hotel (used to be Dorsett Hotel) is situated in Yau Ma Tei. Now under new management, the hotel lobby is brightly lit, spacious but could use some more sofa where tourists waiting for their departure to the airport can sit it out.. The hotel now provides a simple buffet breakfast for residents. As usual, its location is strategic. A...

I stayed in this hotel with my dad for 4 nights. The hotel is very crowded. You see people coming and going all the time. The lobby is always packed of tourists. I would consider the location the main point of this hotel. Few blocks of the Yau Ma Tei metro station, you might take about 10 minutes to walk...

My friend and I stayed at Silka Seaview (previously known as Dorsett Seaview) for 3 nights in August 2011. We had stayed here last year and quite like the location and price was reasonable compare to others along Nathan Road. Room was tiny. We had a twin room and beds were (nearly) wall to wall. The shower area were so...

We stayed there for 3 nights. We asked for 2 rooms one next to each other and both with double beds one month before our stay. We got none of them. Rooms are very small but very clean. Only 2 lifts available for 19 floors, which ment we had to wait and wait to go up. But the funny thing...

we stayed in a double room for 3 nights while on a short getaway. The hotel is at Yau Ma Tai, one train stop away from Mongkok. Mongkok is the main shopping district, so it was really convenient. The room is small but that is to be expected of Hong Kong accommodation, and it's still comfortable. The walls are a...

Staying in Jordan / Yau Ma Tei

Neighbourhood Profile
Jordan / Yau Ma Tei
The Jordan and Yau Ma Tei neighbourhood is where you will find some of the more authentic areas of Hong Kong. Not as glamourous or busy as its neighbours Mong Kok to the north or Tsim Sha Tsui to the south, Yau Ma Tei is often mistakenly overlooked by visitors on their trips to Hong Kong. Exploring parts of this area makes you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. A large part of the neighbourhood draws from the rich history of Temple Street, stretching from Jordan to Yau Ma Tei, where a mix of dai pai dongs (outdoor restaurants), market stalls, fortune tellers and old karaoke bars bring out the history and culture of the area. The neighbourhood is a showcase of diversity – different ethnicities, cultures, and a mix of old and new.
