Very helpful staff in this well located hotel. Good facilities and comfortable rooms in a large hotel overlooking the harbour. Shops and sights within easy reach though you have to be prepared for a walk or get a taxi.

Journey start, Sydney airport, not one of the best airports of the world by any means, expensive and constantly under renovation. Flight with Cathey Pacific was very good albeit economy, not our prefered class but reasonably comfortable. Arrived at Hong Kong airport without any drama but did not enjoy the taxi ride to the hotel as the driver, for no...

For the price is HKD500, he buffet is great. The sea view is greater; the service even more so. The variety was great, there must have been over 80 dishes to choose from. A simple sample of each will fill you up in no time. We spent four hours there, eating, chatting and fellowship with our family.

I stayed at The Excelsior Hotel when I visited Hong Kong from 4 - 18 February 2017. The hotel staff at the reception were very cordial and made my check in very comfortable. There were enough counters and there was not much of a queue in any of the counters as the check in process was very fast. The hotel...

We were really looking forward to our stay here having seen that it is run by the mandarin oriental group. However the hotel is really old and when we first checked in we were offered an "upgrade" (that we had to pay for) which ended up being fora room on the sixth floor which was totally un-renovated - we have...

The guest rooms are antiquated and desperately need a serious refurbishment. Other weaknesses are the lack of a walk-in shower (you need to be a mountaineer to safely get into and out of the bath tub), lack of double glazing (which makes your stay a noisy experience), unwillingness to allow an early check-in and the lack of a desk with...

This is a fairly typical business hotel. The location is excellent, and the staff are very good. Tott's the restaraunt and bar on the top floor has great views. Room was reasonably well equipped, and there is a mobile phone to use throughout your stay which was a nice touch.

I've stayed at the Excelsior (Hong Kong) over 15 times in the last 3 years and I've stayed at other hotels too including The adjacent Park Plaza, Shangrila and the others. But what I like about this hotel the most is its amazing location a few hundred meters from the Causeway Bay train station, minutes walk from all the malls...

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
