Location wise (Tsim Sha Tsui area), it was very accessible. The building (Chungking Mansion) is a bit shady, but past that, the hostel is well-maintained by Simon. He's very accomodating to everyone.👍

I always stay with Simon when I travel to Hong Kong. That's why I don't understand some of the negative reviews. Do these people don't understand that they're staying in Chungking Mansions? It's the most infamous building in the city. The lower floors are colonised by Indian Bazaars and restaurants, but the hostel itself is on the fifth floor (and is easily found following Simon's instructions by mail). Take the elevator the first time you have your suitcase with you, then keep taking the stairs because it's much faster. While the building is chaotic (but harmless), the hostel itself is very quiet and incredibly clean. Simon lives here himself and he takes care of the place. You can call him for anything, and he'll always try to help you find the right places or restaurants. The rooms of course are small (every room in Hong Kong is small, you pay a fortune for a one room apartment here), but you won't find better value for the money anywhere in the city. The location is fantastic as well, literally 2 minutes from the Tsim Sha Shui promenade - the best view in town. Will stay here again next time.

This hostel is located on the 5th floor of a building that hosts many individuals hawking products and services. This means you'll be swatting away hawkers as you try to find the elevator, and spend a long time waiting for it because of all of the businesses in the building. While I have used showers situated without separation from the toilet in other countries, the set up in this hostel made it impossible to use. The wifi also cut out at night.

As a frequent traveler, I travel throughout the world. This hotel, without reservation, was the worse stay I have ever experienced in my 76 years on planet earth. The "guest house" is in a building that has retail shops and it is almost impossible to get to the room. People from different cultures pushing trashy things in your face and throwing insults if you don't buy something. It was horrendous. After asking directions from non-speaking English people, I finally found the elevator to go to the room. The room was in a maze of 6 or 8 other rooms. The room was less than half the size of the next smallest room I have ever seen. It was dirty and thee was no security latch on the door. My fiancée and I have never felt so afraid to go to sleep. It was a nightmare! Do yourself a favor and spend 15 or 20 more USD and go to any other hotel. Avoid this one like the plague!

Important thing is to understand what you're paying for and that's a very central location in a very expensive city. We stayed in two different places for the same price, but one was further out and a little nicer. Guangdong Guest House was certainly more convenient, less time on the bus or train and more closely located things. The room was small, we were three in a 4 bed room and I think that was good, it would have been harder to have 4 of us with stuff in a small space. Free wi-fi, bottled water and kettle for hot water, a fridge in the room, great things that you often don't get for free in nice hotels! Be warned that the Chungking Mansions can be a little overwhelming for the unprepared. Simon does a great job of giving you tips to get in and out safely though! All and all, it was great!

Simon is amazing and all rooms are perfect. We had a TV a fridge, and just about everything we could need. Simon was super helpful and the location was great. The building itself isn't the best, but if you can see past that the hotel is great value for money.

Stayed here for 2 days for Chinese New Years Feb 7-9th. Location is amazing, very close to the Harbor front and right across from Tsim Sha Tsui Train Sation and about 3-5 min walk to East Tsim Sha Tsui station (which I used to get to Ngong 360 on Lantau Island). The 21 bus from the airport also stops right in front of the Mansion, get off at Middle Rd, which was great! Close to the ferry to Hong Kong Island as well. It's a little tricky to find the place as you have to walk inside what looks like a shaddy shopping complex but rest ashored I was able to find it just by showing people the address, they point you in the right direction. Simon was great, nice guy easy checkin. No lounge area or anything just a tine room enough space to walk. Wouldn't spend too much time in the room as there really isn't much to do but great just to leave bags and sleeping. Internet was so-so when it worked great else meah (I was also in the corner room furtherest away from the receiver probably why I had such a weak signal) Not a five star hotel by anymeans but if your looking for a cheap, great location this is yet!

You expect Hong Kong to be expensive and to get a very small space if you're not able to splurge, so I wasn't really surprised that the room was small and that the area around (Chungking Mansions in TST) wasn't great - it's what you're going to get if you want somewhere fairly central (TST) and even vaguely affordable. What did surprise me was how helpful Simon (the owner) was as well as how clean the premises were. (The place was absolutely spotless!) So definitely liked it and highly recommend it. If you're looking for something more spacious/more like a traditional western hotel, this is NOT it (and be expected to pay for it), but for the cost, I found the place excellent and would definitely stay here again.

As Hong Kong is a very busy city, this guesthouse offers a very true Hong Kong experience in one of the busiest buildings in the city. It's very recommended to experience the Chunking Mansion and this guesthouse is one of the safest options, offering a very clean compact room.
