The hotel is located at 300 meters from subway station Beihai, which is a huge advantage. The subway system is elaborate, and finding your way is really easy, with all information also in english. The second advantage of the Qilu hotel is that the Qian Hai lake is around the corner, with many opportunities to go out for lunch or...

The hotels is basic Chinese hotel. Staff is very friendly, not so good in English, but friendliness and (okay) service make up a lot. Beds are a bid hard, but when you're tired, you will not notice. Breakfast is good enough. Best thing about the hotel : it's in the right location. within walking distance a hutong, 2 parks and...

I stayed here last year for a week on a study trip. The hotel is very basic, but in an excellent location. Staff indeed speak very little english, but are very friendly and willing to help. The rooms are quite spacious and light. The beds have a very thin mattress and are quite hard. I personally did not have a...

Stayed in a twin bed room for 2 nights. The hotel was very old and thus there was a musky and cigarette smoke odour lingering throughout the 2 days. The hotel was not built along the main road and thus taxis were not willing to drive to the front of the hotel. Service was found lacking as the staff was...

A friend called (on an internal hotel number) for a foot massage and instead had two prostitutes come to his room within 10 minutes of arriving. Jackhammers and load...

For my first time in Beijing my Chinese colleagues suggested the Qilu. I checked it out on line and found a number of the comments to be very accurate. The hotel staff has limited English, but for most travelers with a little charades and lack of major problems it should be fine. The closest subway is Ping Anli and it...

This is a hotel for tourist groups, staying little time in the hotel, sleeping in small rooms with big an comfortable beds and enjoying the Chinese cuisine in the restaurant (only Chinese). Personnel try their best to speak English but pen and paper is a must. Inconvenients: 1 - Hotel is not having email address. 2 - Hotel payment blocks...

“Ask for a room towards the back of the property. It provides a better view than the parking lot in the front. And the sun comes up on the back side (if it can penetrate the smog).”
