For first time visitors to Beijing, I highly recommend the Wangfujing area - especially if you're a solo traveler. It's a central location with several malls, souvenir shops, restaurants and western food options (ie Pizza Hut and McDonald's). The hotel offers you that access, and if you're up for it, I walked to the Forbidden City in less than 25 minutes from the hotel. Now, I'm not a big fan of taking the taxis from the airport during rush hour as those costs can exceed 150 Yuan. I actually enjoy taking the Shuttle Line 10 from Terminal 2 or 3 of Beijing airport and it only costs 25 Yuan. The shuttle drops you off by Prime Hotel which is about a 5-10 minute easy walk to the Crowne Plaza. I did it with luggage and didn't mind. It took about 45 minutes to arrive to the Wangfujing area and it was easy to find the pickup spot at the airport. Now to the hotel - I found the staff and concierge to be very helpful. The rooms were decent and wifi connection was strong. The morning buffet was ok - I didn't find much options besides fruit and croissants to my liking. I only wish the hotel gym was open 24 hours, but I believe they close around 11pm. Overall, the hotel's location is what really matters. It's great I can be near tourist sights, find plenty of dining options, and save a bunch in airport transportation with the #10 shuttle bus to/from the airport.…
The hotel is located at a very convenient location... Many major tourist spots like Forbidden Kingdom, Tianmen Square are within walking distance... Plus most bus tours for Summer Palace, Great wall etc start right at the gate of the hotel...
The reason I have only given the Crowne Plaza 3 stars is that I am SO ANGRY about the taxi service to the airport ordered by the concierge. The taxi driver they booked REFUSED to give me a receipt and my change when we arrived at terminal 3. That the hotel works with a taxi company like that is disgraceful. However, that said, the concierge where in all other matters fantastic and very helpful. The staff were also service minded and the breakfast is pretty good. The room I was in was comfortable. There is also a 24 hours restaurant that is open, though their selection of beers is pretty boring. I would happily stay in this hotel again, but I definitely would not use the taxi company they work with.
The best location for visiting the good places in beijin, good breakfast, I took a tour that was recommended in the hotel to the great wall, it was great , service , room was very good. You can go by foot to the food market.
People make all the difference, and the staff in this hotel's Club Lounge are the best! Angela, Ellen, Amy, Judy, and Cheryl deserve special mention. Their efforts ensured a perfect stay in early December, and I will be back on the 26th. This is an excellent hotel, and management made room specifics I requested a high priority. The fitness center is well-staffed, with everything a person could want to exercise (many treadmills, ellipticals, bar bells/bench, universal, etc.
