This is an overdue review but one that I did not forget despite a year after coping with COVID. The room was fantastic in terms of furnishing (I was upgraded!) that was chic and novel. If you do not want a regular hotel room that is cliche, I would definitely recommend Sofitel to you. The location is walking distance from the metro, making it easy to get around as well! All the staff were friendly and approachable. I felt welcomed each time I came back. Special mention goes to Lucas, Xiao Feng with whom I had a nice conversation with when he brought my backpack to my room and he went the extra mile to sort out my packages which I bought from Taobao, making calls and even proposed to send the package to the hotel which I stayed in after Sofitel! I know that this is late but I still want to recognise his efforts!…
This is a great property that is well furnished with great facilities. Unfortunately, it's getting very localized. There are only 4 English TV stations and 3 of them were blocked. I hope you like HBO, or I hope you dont watch TV. The room service and other facilities menus are only scanned by WeChat and there is no English version. I realize that foreigners are traveling less in China but that wont last long. I hope they can get their act together. Also didn't help that they gave me someone else's pants when I had them cleaned. Luckily I saw that in time and they were able to find my pants. And the bar closes at 7PM. What kind of bar closes at 7PM? That's when bars are supposed to open. I hope this is a temporary COVID thing because it makes no sense.
stayed there for a week of meetings in Beijing with some colleagues! Concierge (Leo, Alvin etc) were superhelpful in ensuring we had everything and helping with reservations, organising cars with changing schedules etc. Even the cleaning staff wee superhelpful and put extra cotton swabs etc for all of my make-up etc. Really great experience and I'd stay again in a heartbeat
This was the W hotel in BeiJing, and will have renovation soon to make it more Sofitel style. But we did like the typically W’s minimalist aesthetic with added contemporary factors. Our kids played with color-theme lights in the room for days. Location is about 200 m from JianGuoMeng station(exit C). There is an ancient sky observatory next to the station, good for a short visit. 20m lap pool was available with a lifeguard on duty. Water temperature was fine when you are swimming, a little cold when at rest. But this is winter in BeiJing, supposed to be cold. Staff were friendly and helpful at check in and check out. Holly greeted us every morning at breakfast and made sure we had everything covered. Breakfast were comprehensive, if you look around a bit. Dim sim at L’Or restaurant offer basic selections and were a little bland. Dinner was better at this restaurant. We had happy stays at Wanda Sofietel BeiJing some years ago. This recent stay at the new location has reaffirmed our 5 star preference for Sofitel.…
We were sad to leave Sofitel after 9 nights. Our kids asked us if we could stay at Sofitel again :). We really enjoyed our stay and all hotel staff from reservation to breakfast to reception to concierge went out of their way to make sure we have a great time. Below is our experience: 1. Reservation - really responsive and recognised Accor platinum status 2. Check in and check out - very quick and no delays at all. We had to check out on our last night because we were leaving 7 the next morning. No problems everything was easy and quick 3. Concierge - helped out with courier and receiving things and very helpful to provide travelling advice etc 4. Breakfast - really amazing spread and a massive selection of croissants and danish. If you are a pastry lover you will in heaven! All pastries were freshly made and our croissant were still warm and so soft and crusty! We will kiss the croissants surely! There is a large selection of interactive breakfast station - you can make your wonton and noodles and request juices of pear, watermelon, orange, cucumber etc. all freshly pressed. They are putting more signage for the food - I think for English speaking guests it would be nice for them to have more clear signage of the food. However they just have to ask Holly who is always willing to help! You can also choose to have yumcha breakfast upstairs which were amazing as well so you will never get bored of your breakfast. We stayed here 9 nights and looked forward tour breakfast every day! 5. Other restaurants - the Chinese restaurant on level 2 was good but I think the menu can be expanded to at least include Peking duck. We tried to order the roast goose 3 times on the menu and it was never available. We got bored eating there after 3 nights. If it wants to be a restaurant that can attract customers independently it needs to improve on its menu. But overall it was still good and convenient and the Chinese food was high quality when it is available. 6. Housekeeping - excellent housekeeping who made rabbits for our children and left kind notes and looked after us like a family. We had beautiful Sofitel luxurious towels and clean bedding every night. Free mini bar topped up every night. Also they even have children slippers and toothbrush and paste! They also have little prince children drawing sets. 7. Location - convenient location with subway about 5 mins walk. We used subway a lot as Beijing’s traffic can be unpredictable. It was great value for money as if you booked club room through ACCOR I think you get 600yuan credit everyday before their lounge opens in summer this year. We struggle to use up these credits as it was a lot! You can use them on laundry, spa, food and beverage as well as transfers and gifts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sofitel and will surely return again when we visit Beijing next time! …
