So beautiful, in a very old Hutong, in a 800 years old area. Near very lively street, shops and a famous touristic Hutong street. You can walk to the lakes, tours etc. But wifi defective, non English speaker staff , staff who just doesn’t manage to book a cab, even with a translator, very annoying when you’re tourists and cab driver don’t speak English. Not that suitable for tourist. Breakfast average.

We were very happy with our choice to stay at DuGe. An authentic Hutong experience in every way: location, architecture, culture, interior design & decoration, peace and quiet, etc. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The one thing we believe is missing is that the staff may not be supported by management to better understand, resource and deliver an improving service ethic. Highly recommended if you want to get away from the chain hotels. Thanks

Located in the Wurong Area, which is the area with a lot of shops and food corners (very crowded) this hotel got our attention, since we were looking for a type of familiar and authentic boutique hotel rather than a big unpersonal hotel. The hotel is ok, quite small and the rooms are small too but still ok since they match the general set-up of the hotel. The thing that was most complicated for us, was that nobody in the hotel spoke english - only some words but not enough to explain smth, reserve a table or do anything else. This caused really some problems because it took us a significant amount of time to explain everything via google translate.

If you are wanting to stay in one of Beijings authentic buildings amongst pretty tree lined alleyways then this Hotel is perfect. The beds and rooms are very comfortable but definitely on the small side and it is very quiet. The breakfast included has western or Chinese options and the staff are very attentive and sweet. The staff at the front desk are also helpful but their a lack of English can make quite a few questions difficult. Do not expect it to be like big hotels for tour bookings etc. as they don't do this. The entrance isn't hugely obvious either but does have a small sign and lovely blue doors. Because it was winter the surrounding area was quieter, there is a lovely pedestrian street with snack foods one way and restaurants and shops the other (all very upmarket Chinese style) and wonderful to visit day or night. You need to go further away to find western food ie. malls. The subway is close and another very pretty area with a small lake, bars and restaurants also in the area is worth visiting. Also in walking distance to Tiananmen Square etc. I didn't give this Hotel full marks due to difficulty with cabs finding the Hotel (must have address written in Chinese writing) and communication at front desk but I would still fully recommend to anyone that likes to travel a little differently.

I love the bed! I barely have met comfortable bed in hotels of China but this one is amazing.Everything is so nice and clean, modern while have ancient Chinese elements, feeling like I was traveling through time. The breakfast options are great too, you have both western and eastern styles.

We stayed here in Sept, and stayed in the Lotus room and Imperial room, the staff were great, and the rooms as I expected from the photos, the Imperial was Impressive, while the Lotus was small but beautiful. Breakfast was good and only 20 metre walk from the hotel was a famous hutong area with lanes of food and shops, open late every night. Airport pick and drop off was no problem. If you are wanting a beautiful traditional courtyard experience not just a western hotel, stay here. My Children 13 and 14 said it was one of their Bejing highlighs.

The website portrays a great boutique hotel, it was just a pity that they didn't let us know before we arrived or on booking that a significant portion of the Hotel was being refurbished which put the areas of limits. That aside when the work is complete it will be a nice hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Strangely breakfast has to be chosen and the time required booked the night before. Recommend getting a taxi to the hotel not easy to find on foot unless you know the area well. The area round the hotel has a number of restaurants and bars on side streets and a very lively crowded shopping street full of local "fast food" cuisine a few minutes walk away. Its Okay.

We recently spent 5 nights at the hotel and even though the location was really good, the room was not clean, the breakfast (Which was part of our package) was poor and as usual in China, you have to sign and fill out paperwork whenever you move, we completed our breakfast menu each day before and the food never once matched menu form! The food was not good and we ended finding a local restaurant serving breakfast which suited us perfectly. The in-house so called room service menu, we were told is only available if you book the day before! They told me the reason being is that they had to buy the food first!! The funny thing is, there are so many restaurants in the area near the hotel, the hotel could use these restaurants for their room service and not have to worry about purchasing food and preparing and cooking! The staff were really helpful, but obviously and expected, they are limited with their English speaking. The Hutong experience was good, but in hindsight we should have moved to a better hotel in a similar location and only stayed for 1 - 2 nights only.

We ended moving here for a couple of nights from another (slightly cheaper but imo better) hutong courtyard hotel just around the corner as they didn't have space for us for these nights. I wasn't unhappy to move as it was so close and I was interested to see another courtyard hotel. I have say that we didn't think it was as good and we got less for the (slightly) more expensive price. On the plus side this is in a great location for experiencing the hutongs and Jennifer the receptionist was extremely helpful, polite and friendly. However, in comparison to our other hotel the room was smaller and had less amenities (notably no fridge). Also, it turns out that the hotel is having quite noisy renovation work done which involved wheel barrows of bricks being wheeled through reception. I'm not saying this massively impacted or impaired our stay but at the same time I don't think this should be happening without either informing guests ahead of time and possibly offering some compensation. I wouldn't NOT recommend this hotel as I think staying in the hutongs is a wonderful experience and it wasn't at all bad. However, the caveat is I think there is at least one better alternative out there.
