This was a traditional Chinese hotel in a district that will probably be gone to redevelopment in 20 years. It is accessible down an alley way where locals pass by on electric bikes. It is a one story hotel with 9 rooms. The rooms are air conditioned and comfortable. There is a central courtyard with a ping pong table, fish...

This accommodation looked more like a guesthouse. I had decided to stay here based on the positive reviews on TripAdvisor. This guesthouse is right smacked in the middle of old residential Hutong area. I loved the vibe and feeling of staying amongst the locals. I could see locals getting their breakfast at the shops in the morning and the neighbourhood...

The staff was so great. For a true cultural experience in a real hutong this is the place. It is located in a traditional hutong area, surrounded by local residents and Chinese history. You can take breakfast in the hutong or in a main street has a very good pastry with a very cheap prices. Not have the luxury or...

I chose this hostel based on the reviews and comments about the hutong area, but unfortunately, it was not what I expected. Bobby from the reception was very helpful with directions and buying a train ticket for me right in the middle of Golden Week, which was highly appreciated. While the facilities were basic, the beds were comfy and the...

I've stayed at Templeside twice, first in 2011 and most recently in September 2013 and have really enjoyed it both times. Bobby (owner) and his team are great and will also help arrange train tickets, outings and anything else you might need. For a true cultural experience in a real living/working hutong this is the place. Note that this is...

We had a lovely stay at this guesthouse for 4-5 nights. It is located in a traditional hutong area, surrounded by local chinese residents and history. It is near to a subway stop or its easy and very cheap to grab a taxi on street nearby. Clean, comfortable, quiet and charming. Helpful and friendly staff. Quirky communal area with ping-pong...

The Guesthouse is really cool. It's more of a hostel than hotel in my opinion. Check the pics. Hotels don't normally have ping pong tables, books and bikes to be borrowed. The staff is very nice. Bobby and his wife are very helpful as are all the girls working the desk (including Gracie; a previous review gave her bad marks...

Our family of 4 stayed here for 4 nights in July. There are 2 Templeside's - one is a hostel and right around the corner is the Templeside Deluxe courtyard house where we stayed. The neighborhood where it is situated is just delightful. A real slice of the 'old' Beijing and I would wholeheartedly recommend it. There were very few...
