Stayed for 5 nights. We got in late about 3:00am and were very grateful for the helpful welcome we got. The location is quite central walking distance to the drum and bell towers and a longer walk to the Lamai and Confucius Temples. The Forbidden City is also close. They organized a good tour to Jinshaling Great Wall. The place...

We chose Sitting on the City Walls Courtyard House because of its location within a hutong and proximity to many of the major sites. It was a little difficult to find but once we were there we really enjoyed walking through the neighbourhood. Although our room was right off the courtyard, noise was not an issue and we enjoyed having...

Pro's: (1) it is located very close to the Jingshan Park as well as to Forbidden City, Tien'Anmen square, Beihai Park and the Lakes area; (2) staff is friendly (especially Rick), speaks quite good english (which is a rarity in China) and is always helpful; (3) room size as well as bathroom size is ok; (4) the courtyard is located...

Interaction with local people who speak English, and can suggest ways of seeing what you want to see without the hassles makes your stay in this great city much more enjoyable. Rick and Rachel give useful advice, and their friendliness and the effort they make is worth a lot. The atmosphere they provide is infectious..so interaction with other travellers in...

Stayed here for 5 nights and found everything to be great. The owners are really friendly and knowledgable about the city. Happy to provide you with tips along the way. Rooms are basic, but very clean. It is also a great way to experience local life in a Hutong.

Rick and Rachel who run this hutong are super friendly & helpful. The common area to hang out is lovely and very homely. We ate breakfast a few mornings - it costs extra but is really reasonably priced with western choices of muesli, toast, eggs etc along with dumplings and noodles. Great coffee and really cheap beer, water & snacks...

Really nice, quiet and relaxed place to stay in old Beijing. The owners are really helpful and always gave us good recommendations. The location is a really good base from which to explore Beijing and is walking distance from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. They have a simple and good value food menu available for breakfast and dinner and...

I really liked this place and will stay there again when I get back to Beijing in September. It has IMHO a nice atmosphere plus the fact that Rick & Rachel are really helpful. Relaxed but full of information. Nice breakfast and good coffe, and if you're to lazy to get out for dinner you can have some of their...

It is a great place to stay days or weeks in Beijing! The owners are very welcoming, helpful, offer good advice and speak good english. And it is cool and quiet after a day out in smog, heat and noise! Would come back again, if I travelled to Beijing again! Food is good, breakfast with real coffee - great! What...
