As I chose the upper scale apartment (penthouse) that has all the benefits, I gave it a 5 star review. Might have been 4 star. Pros :amazing view (upper floors), huge rooms and space. Crazy appliances. All you need for up to six ppl vacation space. The beach access and pool are great, diving area right on the beach, with nice veriaty of dishes (at reasonable cost). Service is good. I am on the fence regarding transportation, as there is limited tuk tuk/ boda boda outside the perimeter. Safety is high. Beach is clean. Cons: the place is clean, but room cleaning is not done unless asked specifically. As usual when you leave the perimeter toward the beach, expect hassle from beach boys and others. And it's a bit pricey. Some tour offers being arranged (ie wasini/shimoni) are better done outside. Not all actual operators are good and price varies.

staff at the reception called prisca the worst customer care you will ever meet. Reffered guests three simple complaints not sorted called to give the business and asked them to get a contact person to ensure guests are comfotable. She started argue. For me and my guests we are saying we are not getting an inch closer to those rude. people.

The good. Booked a 1 bed apartment, cheaper if you use booking.com than ask at the hotel as they charge more. Located on the beach. The Bad. AC chillers on your balcony make noise like a tractor. View from apartment is directly into opposite apartment little privacy when curtains open. Pool gets no sun light as Apartements keep in shade all day. Toilet not clean on arrival, toilet brush looked very brown, window ledge in bathroom never been cleaned. The Ugly. Sun bed fabric toppers mouldy, ordered a Portion of Samosa the inside of which was cold. Stay clear of food…:.

I would never recommend this service apartments Their beds had bed bugs and very unhygienic. Their service is very poor with covid 19 they have no safety measures in place for their guests which is very dangerous.

A stay anywhere will be a mixed bag. Yes there is much to be improved eg more control of glass bottles around pool; improved menu etc BUT, would definitely visit again. Mainly because the staff are lovely; responsive; even when the issues are genuinely out of their control. Liz, Brian, Eric, Lily, Daisy, Amos: Thank you for a lovely stay! Samson: a special thanks! You saw me at my worst! Pretentious and demanding. And handled it with grace! (First day). Thank you! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL THE LOVELY STAFF ♥️

My review is for someone who wants nothing but the truth as I wish someone had written before I went there. My husband and I stayed 10 days too long at Cowrie Shell Beach apartments, its probably the only regret I have of this year. I'll summarize experience and service: Curtains and Blinds, were extremely dirty. House cleaning was done everyday but it was basically making the bed, taking out the trash and mopping with strong bleach. I doubt they washed the sinks or bathroom. Sometimes we would see what we left on the floor at the exact same spot after cleaning. In my 10 days there I never saw the pool cleaned. SO I never went in. Water would run out at night... had to shower before 7 pm to avoid nasty surprises. Bed would move when you moved. Leaky arabian shower. Not regular replacement of sheets and towels unless requested. I wouldn't suggest it as a family friendly place as it was mostly foreigners with their local side pieces. Some rented it to have parties so there would be heavy pool partying and loud music through the night. Check out was horrible as the regular front desk lady was not there. It was me and an Asian man fuming at the guy in the front desk (substitute for the regular lady) who seemed unfazed by our troubles. He wasn't bothered by my complaints but chased after me because I had forgotten to pay 300 for a broken glass. Not the best beach front with tons of seaweed and beach boys. Pros They generally address whatever concerns you have in a timely manner. Seemed pretty safe. They would usually have water refilled by 6 am. The regular front desk ladies seem nice and know how to operate the place.

Bed was aweful - Felt like I was sleeping on the floor, but with the matress springs poking me in the ribs. Worst sleeps I've had in a long time. The studio apartment I was given was not in a great condition, A/C started to leak / Balcony door frames were coming of the wall and there was this weird smell in the studio flat. Staff were polite, but that's apart it, mainly focused there attention on those who they thought would tip them more, then those who they thought would not - Got better service from security staff at the gate then from front of house staff. Certain staff need to improve on there personal hygiene as well, in terms of smell. The beach apperently belong to the restaurant which isn't part of the hotel, so if you want a sunbed then you'll need to purchase a expensive meal or drink, irrelevant if your a guest of the hotel. So instead once you come into the beach take a right turn and walk for 5 minutes, you'll see a lot more nicer beachfront hotel cafes, which are worth the money, then this one. During the night you can hear security opening and closing the gate - Security is very weak compared to other Kenyan hotels I've stayed at. Would I come back and stay here agin? Never! Was it worth the money I spent at this hotel? No.

We have stayed at Cowrie several times. Great facilities with hotel like amenities and services but with the flexibility of serviced apartments. We have stayed at B11, B42, B44 and A19. The services were top notch. We do know the apartments are privately owned

We stayed for a week during the holidays but was truly disappointed. All the things that did not work got minimal or no attention. In order of break-down appearance: WiFi, unmade beds (upon arrival), air conditioning, lack of towels or even toilet paper (in both WC), jammed safety box (with our valuables) and water boiler. What made this establishment ranked as a 5 star stay leaves me clueless.
